I believe we should be giving Mendes a shot. But that's never going to happen with Santos. I really hope I'm wrong.

100 % agree with you. We should not have suffered this much and I hope our coach learns from this game. Doubt it though, he is at this moment telling his assistants that his decisions were bang in LOL

If he was defensive against this team, don’t expect him to open up more against Germany

The Diogo overreactions are silly. He was more active and played a bigger role today than Bruno, he just failed to score (or assist) a couple good chances.

And Portugal desperately needs active forwards like him. Sometimes you just hit your shot at the keeper.

He took open opportunities away from Ronaldo and from Bruno. He made pad passes. I normally really like him but he was really bad today. Did not like how he played in our last two other games either. If he starts next game , I would not be shocked but he should be on a very short Leash

What a shot bruno had, swirled beautifully and keeper had to react quickly
Bruno was a positive for me

Good. Surprised he got subbed. He seems to get subbed at City too, is he just unfit or?

Considering the circumstances, this is a phenomenal result. Sets the team up nicely to progress already and I'm pretty sure is the best result we've ever had opening a tournament.

Not too worried with the Starting XI. At Euro 2016, Vierinha and Carvalho started all 3 group games and I'm pretty sure they never wore the NT jersey after that. The game against Germany will be important to really determine what level the team is at.

Still a shame Cancelo is out but Semedo seems to have done well all things considered.

Also, the Rafa sub goes to show that many of us need to just STFU and let Santos do his thing. He's won Portugal all their titles in history and he's with these players day in, day out. He put in Rafa because of the latter reason, something we aren't privy to.

Yet it still seems some on here are more interested in Portugal losing the game as long as they're right about Rafa being crap. Bizarre mindset.

Do we want this game to be an all-time war, so they beat each other up good and ultimately get a tie? Is that the result that suits us best? I'm assuming? LOL

Own Goal running away with the Top Scorer award.

Wouldn't mind France trouncing the Germans to demoralize them completely, forcing them to open up too much against Portugal, and get Sergio-Conceicao'd on Saturday.

Doesn't look like the Germans are backing down though... They're taking this game to France especially since the goal.

I wouldn't mind Andre Silva getting a start, but Diogo will definitely be needed if Portugal wants to go deep.

Fortunately, we have all kinds of options.

Lots of holes in the defence of France and Germany. Like watching ping pong

If they play like this against us we will get them on the counter.

I just wished we didn't have to rely on the counter against the bigger teams. We have enough talent and depth this time to literally go toe to toe with these guys and WIN too. We need to get out of this "minnow" mentality. We've won before now, that monkey is off our backs.

LET'S FN GO FOR THE KILL AND COMPETE LIKE THE SKILLED TEAM WE ARE!!!

The calculations for the knockout round are too complex for me right now. Tend to feel we can present well with whoever.
