@bungadiri -- Can we update the thread title, please? Cameron Carter-Vickers at Luton Town FC (on loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC)
Great idea! We also need an official theme song ... There's a place where YA's go To cry their troubles away And they call it Luton Town Where Hotspurs' loanees must stay (Luton Town) Tottenham can buy a YA or two To last them all through the years But know well the price we pay Is a heart full of tears (full of tears) Goin' down to Luton Town Where CCV must stay Goin' down to Luton Town To while his troubles away In the town of broken dreams The streets are paved with regret Maybe down in Luton Town He can learn to forget (to forget)
If you've got a hyphenated name and you're on loan, you can't have a fun title. Way too wordy. I don't know if BigSoccer has a character limit for thread titles, but "Mad as a Hatter: Cameron Carter-Vickers at Luton Town (on loan from Tottenham)" has to be pushing the boundary Note to the mods: this isn't MLS, so we don't need the superfluous FCs in thread titles. We're all aware of what sport is being played here.
For Luton Town and most English clubs yes (although Tottenham has an auto-racing team as part of its multisport athletics club), although probably should keep FC in there several for La Liga clubs, Seria A, etc. Basketball is played by numerous well known "football clubs" including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow, Olympiakos, Sporting CP, etc. Most of the clubs were started as multi sports clubs, including several where rugby was played. it can also be used in the UKL to distinguish soccer from the rugby teams including in places like Hull, Huddersfield, and Leeds where rugby is huge. Now that said stating it is a soccer team is probably superfluous on this board whether it is Yanks Abroad or MLS.
http://www.bigSOCCER.com Don't think anyone is confused about Barcelona Basquet being the topic of conversation here.
Ahh, okay we agree. Just found it odd that it was mentioned at all in the initial post whether MLS or European clubs.
Hey, sometimes I wonder if I accidentally went to "bigbaseball.com", given the quantity of talk about AAA vs MLB in certain threads around here!
CCV is on a pretty good run. Rated as MOTM today against a Wigan side that's had 5 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss in the Championship since mid-January. Just 11/19 passing while Luton was outdone in possession but did have 10 clearances, 5/7 aerial duels won, 2 blocks, 1 int, 1 tackle. https://t.co/ly5nJBwewa— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) March 7, 2020

With Stoke he'd have been relegated as one of their worst players. With Luton he's going to be relegated as one of their best. Quite a change of fortune.
And this change of fortune will go a long, long way to getting him a better berth next season. IMO, it's time - past time, actually - for him to tell the Spurs' FO that he's either in their plans or not, and if he's not he has to get a permanent move. Getting his wages off the books and his file out of the U-23 office will let him and Spurs look to the future. If he picks a club carefully, a resale clause could give Spurs some return on their investment in him. m
Sonny Bradley was a stand-out CB and player of the year two years ago for Plymouth Argyle in League One, so he knows a thing or two about CBs
Luton Town made a managerial change during the COVID break. Former manager Nathan Jones, who managed the team from January 2016 through January 2019, was brought back on May 28th replacing Graeme Jones who parted company with Luton on April 24th. Nathan Jones was in charge when Luton Town was promoted to League One after the 2017 - 2018 season. The club were in second place in League One when he left for the Stoke City job. Jones has the highest Football League points per game ratio of any manager in Luton's history. He was sacked at Stoke this past November after starting the campaign with 2 wins from 14 matches. This means that CCV will have the rare distinction of having the same manager at two different clubs in the same season.

Some of the media have given him the MOTM in a 1-1 draw vs Preston North End CCV had 13 clearances - the most (by far) of any player in the game
I think that's his level and at this stage there's nothing wrong with that. The Championship will give him plenty of opportunity to improve his game and if he can make strides who knows. I'm not sure he's EPL level but then, most players aren't. Still he can carve out a really good career.
All-touches from the game against Preston. Was very good defensively, was very alert and a physical presence as usual. Probably will never be very good on the ball though. Pretty good performance though especially for the worst team in the league against the 6th placed team.
