With normally publicity-shy main shareholder Dermot Desmond issuing a personal statement branding Rodgers "divisive, misleading, and self-serving" the exit is unusually acrimonious, to put it mildly. Celtic and Rodgers are going to be damaged: Celtic for a while but Rodgers may be done at top level after this.

Agreed. Many want Postegoclou back but he got that taste of PL football and that comes with a price tag. Nancy would be a breath of fresh air. Different and younger than Rodgers and Ange with newer ideas.
Nancy is definitely a coach that anyone watching knew would be taking a step up the coaching ladder soon. Celtic seems about right. Would be a good opportunity for him if he can turn around that ship.

Speaking of CCV — Martin O’Neill revealed in a press conference last week that he won’t return until next season. While there was an outside chance he could have featured toward the end of this campaign, both the club and medical staff agreed that waiting is the safer option. The club has treated his Achilles injury and surgery as if it were a full rupture, even though it was diagnosed as a partial tear with an initial 3–5 month recovery timeline. Given how susceptible Achilles injuries are to re‑tear, I’m glad the medical staff is taking a cautious approach. It would be easy to rush him back with the title race so tight — just three points separating Celtic in third and Hearts at the top — but prioritizing long-term health is the right call.

I have always liked the way he plays CB. He had figured out how to use what he has (read: big butt, low center of gravity) to maximum effect. He seems to have mastered the little bumps and shoves that neutralize the speed advantage forwards have over him. Analogous to the great rebound song power forwards like Paul Silas. Or even 6’7” Wes Unseld at center. CCV is also decent with the ball at his feet. Fun to watch.
He has one very glaring weakness.........his air game. He would have been dunked on just as hard as Tim Ream unfortunately on that second belgium goal. But we are not good enough to discount a defender like CCV, he can still have a role and place when we have defenders like Robinson and McKenzie called up
Yeah I don't know, I like Tim but he got punked on that header. Not so much outjumped, since he was already ragdolled like a schoolboy going against a GAM. If he would have stood his ground dude doesn't get to that header, but since he went down he really couldn't jump.
At the minimum, CCV would've stood his ground, meaning de Ketelare would've jumped into him and that would've killed the momentum behind the header. More likely, CCV would've backed into him and stopped him getting momentum in the frost place. The problem with that scenario OFC is that Ream was the captain. left-footed and had real ability on the ball, especially in a back 3, which made him too important to drop, and CCV is a right-footer. IMO he'd have traveled, but instead of Trusty and wouldn't have got much more PT
Hard to argue with this since Poch clearly loved Ream, but in terms of quality, Carter-Vickers is the 2nd best CB in the pool right now behind Chris Richards.

CCV's return immediately elevates Celtic on the defensive side and in build-up play from the back. Everyone at club is thrilled to have him back. He brings a commanding presence, leadership, and a calming influence whenever he's on the pitch. That said, while his return strengthens the spine of the team, it won't solve Celtic's issues in the final third or suddenly raise the level of the attack. Sigh..... slow moving transfer window. Shit start to it.
