I don't know if it's as clear cut as it was a couple years ago as the SPL has gotten significantly worse and CCV, a guy who is considered by many the best CB in Scotland, had in recent appearances eith the US struggled a bit with Concacaf attackers that are MLS level or lower
Actually, as one who has to suffer through the misery that is often the SPFL, I think the quality of the league has been improved over the last two seasons. It's still ain't great but loanees from the EFL Championship have been impactful. It's risen..... slightly. You're seeing less and less hoof it forward. It will never go away but Aberdeen, Hibs, and Dundee United all showed glimpses of being decent sides that could play a little football though it wasn't consistent enough to be threatening to Celtic and Rangers. As for CCV, he's struggled all season with knee, ankle, and thigh issues. He played through pain. I think he would have been better served saying no thanks to all those US callups as those transatlantic flights took its toll and he looked subpar. Since I see him every week, he looked hurt playing for the US.
I think that team would be a solid contender. Maeda would be a top 5 player in MLS. I'd swap out Tavernier for Alistair Johnston who led the league in assists and is sooooooo much better defensively than an aging Tavernier. I might swap out Dalby for Martin Boyle. I think Boyle was better, IMO. The Aussie, Triantis, is a guy I think MLS teams should go after. He's going back to Sunderland after his loan but it will be hard pressed for him to get into the side if they win promotion. Triantis is very versatile. He can play as a 6, 8 or CB. Tall, lanky covers a ton of ground and is good on ball.
https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...arter-vickers-sheffield-united-celtic-5176722 Leeds United and Sunderland are reportedly admirers of Celtic’s former Sheffield United defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. Bailey told 67 Hail Hail: “As we know, every player has his price in this Celtic squad. And I think there’s a real danger that Carter-Vickers leaves. “That won’t go down well, but Celtic could probably get good money for him. What would he cost, £25-30m to sell him? That’s a lot of money for a centre-half at the moment. And I think there’s a real chance that he’s not at Celtic come the start of September. “Leeds like him a lot, and Sunderland. I know that he was on West Ham’s radar as well. To be fair, he’s got three, four, even five [clubs interested]. “He’s got quite a lot of interest there because he’s not, Premier League wise, on huge wages. He’s not a massive amount to buy and you’re getting a player who’s had a brilliant Champions League campaign.”
£25 million would nearly double their record sale for a CB - there’s no way CCV fetches that kind of fee.
