Crushing. Cruel. Unfair. Unlucky. A bunch of adjectives to describe this match. CCV and trusty had a tough assignment tonight. They held their own under huge pressure. The only costly mistake all night for CCV & Trusty was the game winner. They let the runner in-between them for the initial header. The Celtic player 10 feet in front of them didn’t impede the Bayern player’s run and that allowed him to run free. Unfortunate.
Blame the GK far more than CCV and Auston or even the Celtic guy in front of them. A ball like that has to be pushed wide towards the corner flag or out for a corner, full stop. Pushing it into the 6-Yard Box means an opponent just had to get a touch on the ball. They've both been immense in this CL run and, like the rest of the club, have looked like they belonged at this level. Immense growth over last season. It's hard to see where CCV can go from here - assuming he even wants to - but he's at a club that's growing and is key to that.
Probably right. But I have a hard time blaming anything on Schmeichel. He was damn good - minus the 7-1 defeat - throughout the entire CL campaign. Breath of fresh air after shit-ass Joe Hart. Agreed. I’d love to see CCV try his luck in the Bundesliga. I know there’s been some rumored interest but does he really need to? Despite the crap in the SPL, Celtic has built a squad that can compete in the CL.
Being me, I don't have a hard time blaming Schmeichel (what's the point of watching football if you can't blame the GK? ) but you can't blame anyone here, only criticize a particular action. It was last seconds of a CL elimination round tie and Celtic had been pretty much under the cosh for 20 minutes straight. A mistake was inevitable and the ball broke kindly for Bayern, nothing more. I'd keep an eye on developments at Hearts, where Brighton owner Tony Bloom has bought a significant stake. If things go as they did at USG, the SPL is about to get rather competitive. I'd imagine Celtic are feeling challenged (in a good way) by that. Not so sure about Rangers.
Yes, he does need to. I mean, if he wants to get better at the game. Hes in a 3 game league, and maybe 1 or 2 Scottish cup games, and then 8 UCL games each season. Having a 13 competitive game season, + ~35-40 "free wins" won't allow him to get better at his profession. Once again, he should look to leave, if possible. The SPL is kind of a joke these days.
Meh, even IF Hearts figure things out right away, a 3 competitive game season only becomes a 6 competitive game season. And then, 32 or so scrimmages against League 2 quality scrubs. If CCV wants to get better at the game and can get out of the SPL, he should.
The SPL plays a double home-and-away schedule with a Top 6 Split at the end of the season on top. A seriously strengthened Hearts makes that an 8 competitive games season rather than 6. On top of which, Aberdeen are a Championship bottom third side and Hibs, Motherwell and maybe Kilmarnock would slot in at League One playoff level. None of them are good enough to create a competitive title race but they're more than capable of giving Celtic a competitive game. After all, every SPL player is either a Rangers fan, a Celtic reject, an Old Firm target or a guy looking for a move to England. Games against Celtic are the ones where they're going to to be watched. They'll raise their game considerably
So instead of 32-35 free scrimmages each season, it'll be 30-33 free and easy scrimmages a season for Celtic. Got it. Still craptacular. And not sufficient competitive rigor for a player of a certain level to improve. This may be, but apart from the Old Firm, none of the players in the other sides have a sufficient ability level to raise to even annoy Celtic in the least bit. Maybe distract them, but not challenge them. Kinda like an ant competing against your boot on the pavement. I maintain that any player who dreams of becoming better at the game should leave the SPL if they can.
Well, they haven't left yet. Celtic with a league match against Aberdeen today, and the Trusty-CCV combo plays the whole match in a 5-1 win. Between the two of the, 12/16 on duels and only one SoT conceded, though it did go in, though not until the 90th minute. Nice bounceback from their last two outings. Six more wins and this is over even if Rangers win out.
CCV starts against Rangers. Trusty with a calf injury, apparently, and Scales is also hurt, so a lot riding on Cameron. Rangers went up 1-0 early. Broadcast on CBS Sports Network in the states.
Literally simultaneous goals by US CBs in games - won't spoil the other one in case. Haven't seen the footage of this apparent CCV wonder goal that makes it 3-0 Celtic early.
CCV’s goal was a screamer from 30 yards to the top left corner. No GK stopping that. He stepped into the midfield, received a pass, took a couple of dribbles, no one picked him up, and he unleashed a bomb.

CCV starts the Cup semifinal against St Johnstone, Trusty bench. 5-0 lead for the Hoops late, and we will have a YA Scottish Cup champ this year as Celtic will face Polvara's Aberdeen.
CCV starts against Dundee United. A point would clinch the title for Celtic, so they won't have to lean on their 42-goal advantage in the differential column. Trusty bench.
CCV one of the top-rated players on the field in the regular-season finale, as Celtic need a 94th minute James Forrest equalizer to pull off a draw. Carter-Vickers, 98% passing, 8/11 on duels, 6 headed clearances. Cup final against Aberdeen next Saturday. Trusty DNP.
