CL League Phase Draw was today and under the new format Celtic has drawn: RB Leipzig, Dortmund, Club Brugge, Atalanta, BSC Young Boys, Dinamo Zagreb, Slovan Bratislava, and Aston Villa. Very competitive draw. Not going to be easy. But I think with the new format you’re going to see more meaningful and competive matches right off the bat.

interesting to note…. Atalanta were supposedly one of the clubs sniffing around CCV.

3-0 win. Give CCV credit for the shutout, but doesn't seem to have his best match by the chatter. Trusty bench but DNP.

CCV was average today. Not a bad performance by any stretch but probably the “weakest” of his back line. He didn’t need to play hero today. That’s a sign that things went according to the game plan. CCV did complete the most passes, going 76/82 and was complimented for his composure on the ball. Like I said…. average game from him. Nothing more. Nothing less. Oh…. Celtic haven’t conceded a goal in league play. Four straight shutouts.

Good luck to Celtic tonight because if they can't get a home win or at least an away draw against the likes of Bratislava, they may as well go home

    Finished 5-1 to Celtic

    From the match report:
Cameron Carter-Vickers: Typically solid and assured but wasn't overly tested as Bratislava looked to sit in a low block and hit on the break. Was comfortable coming high up the pitch and stealing possession. Booked cheaply for holding back Strelec and had a couple of tired moments before being subbed.
    Grade: 7 (out of 10)

CCV won't be playing for Celtic tonight in the CL.

He's still nursing a toe injury and didn't travel with the squad

After two CL games, Celtic with 1 win and 1 loss, -2 goal differential. Standard stuff.

Good for CCV. Bad for the club. Celtic got thrashed and their lack of quality exposed.

Also is the Trusty thread showing as locked for anyone else?

I reported it as locked and got a message back that it was locked for the duration of the match, which is not a good idea: not everyone wants to talk about minutiae in the PBPs and overview/ overall takes get lost there.

In the case of a player who's injured or suspended it's downright daft.

As for Celtic last night, most takes revolve around the limitations of the Old Firm in top flight competition being exposed all over again. There's much to that, but Celtic's tactics last night were desperately naive, especially when their best CB was injured and the replacement is new to the team, let alone CL football. 4-3-3 with a high press is wonderful, but so is defensive solidity away from home, especially against a team with known defensive problems.

A 4-3-3 with two #6s gives much greater solidity and more time to play yourselves into the game at the start without leaving a rather slow backline exposed to the pace of Dortmund's attack.

On paper, they're far from eliminated - a point against Atlanta or Leipzig, followed by 6 points from the Brugge, Zagreb and Young Boys sequence should be enough, but their morale will have taken a heavy blow, along with Rodgers' credibility. Heavy defeats against the Italians or the Germans could see them eliminated before December.

Yeah, they clearly should benefit from the new format, because they were outclassed consistently in the old one.

Their record in their last 25 CL group stage matches prior to this year which spans several managers:
    P25 W2 (8%) D5 (20%) L18 (72%) F17 A65 Pts 11/75 GD -48
