Full time, very good win. Fairly even game they did well to win. Hopefully they're healthy enough to field close to their best team for the second leg.
CCV starts in the second leg of the promotion playoff semifinal. Bournemouth hold a 1-0 lead from the home leg (no away goals rule in the English promotion playoffs). CCV with an assist in the 6th minute as he clears to Aranut Danjuma off a corner who then has a clear break away. 1-0 Bournemouth (2-0 on aggregate)
Brentford convert a penalty in the 16' after a Lloyd Kelly hand ball in the box. 1-1 (2-1 Bournemouth on aggregate)
well that was a fun red card bournemouth down to 10 as Mepham is sent off for a pretty average/below average american football tackle. CCV will need to be massive from here on out
CCV's centerback partner Chris Mepham is stripped in his own half and then makes a football tackle on the Brentford attacker who was in on goal. Mepham is sent off in the 28'.
Ccv sadly still seems like the same guy. Some really nervy awkward stuff when he has to run and defend instead of mark and head the ball
HT 1-1 (2-1 Bournemouth on aggregate) Bourenmouth's makeshift center-back Lloyd Kelly was beaten by the Championship's leading goal scorer Ivan Toney. CCV came over to cover but slipped in the box. Toney hit the ball past CCV and then ran into him but no penalty was given. There was a play were Bourenmouth attacker Bryan Mbeumo drifted off CCV's back shoulder in the box. Bournemouth right back Adam Smith was able to get over and make a leaping clearance on a cross. CCV did win some headers and one on one duels and has the assist.
After Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo is able to win a long ball off Bournemouth's substitute left back Diego Rico, CCV comes over and does just enough to put him off on the break so that his shot is saved. A scramble in the box then ends in a Brentford foul.
Listening to this one on Talk Sport, didn't realize he had the assist. The pageantry of this whole process makes me so jealous. I know for a stone cold fact that the owners of MLS clubs will never allow it, and nor would I if I was in their shoes, but the drama of these games and the relegation battles is so captivating. I wonder if pro/rel could be adopted at the lower leagues in America.
the drama is great but there is no romanticizing how dire the onfield quality of these matches has been
CCV with a massive play at 74', header back across goal for Brentford, CCV nips in just before the B'ford attacker is able to put it into the open net. Saved the game for now, but Bournemouth is holding on by a thread here. Red cards stink.
And there's the 3rd. Bournemouth is done. Ball goes out wide, hit in low and hard, the Brentford guy gets to it just before CCV, redirecting into the goal with his foot. CCV was "at fault" for that one, but was more of a good goal than poor defending IMO.
ccv stationary protecting space when the attacker jolts in front of him to get a foot on a whipped in cross. dunno enough about to defending to say anything besides that didn’t look great for our boy and it is catastrophic for bournemouth
Yep watched it on ESPN plus ... CCV was there but it was just a great redirect sigh wonder what happens next year with CCV?
Highlights from yesterday below. CCV's assist starts the highlights. Brentford's third goal in which Forss gets is leg in front of CCV is at 1:47.
