Calling all Americans

Discussion in 'New York Red Bulls' started by Kalina, May 9, 2003.

  1. Firstly I'd like to say good luck to Metrostars in their league campaign.

My team Sunderland, who will soon be entering Division 1 after relegation from the Premiership is not having a great time at the moment for all sorts of reasons.
I'm appealing to all Americans to support Sunderland in our time of need. Now I'm not asking you to desert your American ones but take up Sunderland.

Rather than supporting one of the "Big" teams so to speak (Man U, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool) I'm appealing to you Americans to support and get behind SAFC for a swift and speedy return to the Premiership.
This might sound biased but we are the 3rd best supported team in the league behind Man U and Newcastle (our arch-rivals) and still have 30 thousand supporters turn up to watch drab soccer, which shows our great loyalty...and are renound fanatics...see my web site for more details...so if you're looking for a club, pick Sunderland AFC

    thank-you

Definitely not an incentive for recruiting fans, but I'll be looking out for Sunderland next year. It'll just give me another reason to watch more soccer matches.

  6. No it is not, to get Sunderland followers in the States is the main priority...tho I will look at ur site m8...with regards to the Newcastle-Sunderland rivalry...u have to be from the North East of England to truely understand it, it aint all "I'm a Maggie and I hate Sunderland" or vica verca...it's more of a friendly rivalry although u do get clashes of violence from the minority...the majority of Newcastle fans are sorry to see Sunderland go down...as proved on radio programmes like the three legends

  7. Respect for the American League

NJPsycho>>>I can't really say how good ur league is as I aint seen any games...though I do think it is better than most people give credit for...uve had some of the biggest names in football play for your teams including Pele, Zenga, Bergomi, Valderamma, Donadoni, Stoichkov etc...(whether they've been any good is another story).
The thing is most people still think youz are more of a Basketball, Baseball, Amercian Football nation etc rather than soccer so no one in the soccer world will take ur league seriously because of this I'm afraid...I think ur league is getting better and uve got some good young players...and after all ur national team has beaten England twice from what I can remember n that was some time ago...so improvement has been made!

we have our local guy reyna playing for you,,i throw my support behind sunderland as long as you guys rename your stadium "the stadium of darkness". Change your kits to an all black outfit with gothic letters, and make sure your players go in studs up every tackle

    Go Black Cats

I have been following and supporting Sunderland since Reyna joined the EPL. The Black Cats will always have me as a fan for giving him the opportunity to play in the EPL. I am hopeful that he will recover to help Sunderland return to the EPL by winning Division One next year!

Maybe Sunderland should tour the US if they want to create fans. Of course they will get beat by MLS teams, but they might be able to handle some of the A-league or D3 Pro teams.

I actually started following Sunderland before Reyna. I was on vacation in London and saw a Sunderland match on TV... This was the year they recently won Div I and were to be promoted. Let's hope they can do it again next year.

I enjoyed their style in the game, and have kept an eye on them ever since.
