They are going to kill the filibuster no matter what so dems might as well die on their feet than beg on their knees get laughed at and then slapped around and then killed. I wouldn't even give him a hearing until after the midterms and let the chips fall where they may. If Rs kill the filibuster, they will totally own the consequences of that decision. Trump gets one justice in his first term, no more.

Not going to happen. Ruth and Breyer will be wheeled into their offices with a mobile heart and lung machine if necessary. If the argument was that Obama got two SCOTUS appointments for his two terms and there would be no more because it would shift the court too far to the left then the same should apply. I am ok with Trump getting one per term. Even if RBG and Kennedy move into the next life or retire, I would leave seats vacant on the same logic the Senate GOP used to deny Garland hearings. Even a hard right winger can appreciate that what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Trump will not seat centrist or liberal justices. He could have gone a long way to making inroads with centrists and liberals if he were to nominate Garland but he did not and I think his nominations will only be strict/conservative from here on in.
