Danny has been selected to the 23 man roster for the Confederations Cup in France. Good for him - his play has been solid for the nats and he earned it. Not so good for LAG. Our vaunted "depth" will be challenged.

I think he'll only miss one match. As will Simon who'll be on the NZ squad.

Also, Greg Vanney (I still consider him a G) is on the squad.

Vanney's corner kicks in the Wales game were something to behold. I don't remember him being that sharp with corner kicks when he was with us - that aspect of his game has really improved.

How can you actually be supporting this guy, where has he proved himself??? Against some no name teams, he is going to be the weakest defender that we have.

There's some guy -- used to coach DC -- that's really big on him. What does he know?

Califf deserves a chance to play for the US in a big tournament like this. I think it's long overdue. He's been consistently solid in the backline. Arena needs big, strong, tall defenders for the long term. Califf, Boca and Pope are the ones who can play for the US nats all the way to WC06 if the US can qualify...It's good to see Vanney play good soccer for the US also.

I'm a G's fan and as much as I'd like to see Califf succeed, I'm a little nervous about him in this cup. He has size and skills, but seems to make errors at the worst times (i.e. caught outta position, bad clearances). I hope he can keep up with the pace of the Int'l fowards he'll be facing.

Good for Vanney, would really like to see him shine this summer. My fave (former) Galaxy player, please come home!!

    Hope Zidane Plays

Danny can finally end his career once and for all.

Cameroonians are too quick, Brazilians can sense him coming.

But a slow of foot, larger than normal European midfielder is meat for the Danny "the killer" Califf.

Danny___ do it for America, put a frenchie in the hospital !!!

A bit surprised that Califf is the ONLY Galaxy player named to the Confed Cup roster.

Then again, I'm happy that Cobi wasn't called.......at least, for our sake!!

There's no doubt that losing Califf for about a month will hurt us. How much is THE question!!

I do expect Califf to play quite a bit with the USMNT & hopefully, will do MLS and the Galaxy proud.

Don't know about Simon, but ussoccerfan.com says that Bruce has the squad reporting Monday, June 1 and heading to Lyon, France on June 6. This would mean we miss Danny for the first three home games at least, no?

Danny will fly home from DC for the opener (and miss NZ game) and then return to camp. Bruce rightly knows the importance of the VS opener to all of MLS and US, so he wants the Gs to have a full squad.

I think if the US goes beyond the preliminary round of CC, he may miss three games.
