The attitude you have to stay and fight for your place works for one season, two would be the absolute max. Beyond that you're spinning your wheels, have to see the writing on the wall, and whatever other cliche you want to apply. You're wasting a lot of time you could be playing and developing elsewhere. We can't be sure Junior Flores is still alive.
Stanko is 25 years old. He's managed to glom on to the back of Freiburg's roster because he's been around for a while. Were he a free agent, I doubt any Bundesliga club would pick him up. So he's 25, he made six Bundesliga appearances last year before getting hurt, and his contract runs for another year. If I'm Stanko, I'm riding this out and making the best of it. He's past his developmental years, he's on the first team of a Bundesliga club. Keep living the dream, Caleb.
is he good enough for the club or is the club just loaded with so many solid options that he hasn't been able to get a fair shot? Been there since 2011. I'm surprised he hasn't had many more loans.
the friendly Stanko played was basically a b-team while Freiburg play another friendly right now vs Ligue 1 side Strasbourg and Stanko is not in the squad.
and living in one of the best cities in Germany while continuing to speak a foreign language and enjoy another culture.
I lived there for a year. It's beautiful itself, is surrounded by the Black Forest, close to Switzerland, even closer to France, university town, great food, cosmopolitan, best weather in Germany.
For those keeping score at home, sounds like Caleb Stanko will be returning to training toward the end of the week. Hope to see him return to fitness and be integrated into Freiburg side that sit near the middle of the table after just avoiding relegation last year. https://t.co/E5cQRsPAxm— Yanks Abroad (@usmnt_abroad) October 29, 2018
So he actually has a chance to play for the first team this season and his exclusion to this point was more due to injury than being out favor??
he played the full game in RL for II in a 3-2 win over the weekend, And he looks to be back to training but seems unlikely will make the 1st team squad this weekend.
looks like he could be sold this Winter transfer as his contract does expire in 2019. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...h-koennten-verliehen-werden.html#omsmtwkicker
don't know but clubs have to be interested in him but between long term injury and barely playing neither give him credit.

Sources: #FCC to sign Caleb Stanko via TAM - https://t.co/7aTIfMqATc— Kristian Dyer (@KristianRDyer) January 22, 2019
Holy shit! I didn't realize Caleb was 25. Wow. for some reason i thought he was closer to 22-23. He needs a reboot to his career. It's definitely stalled. Russell Canouse was pretty much at a dead end at Hoffenheim and made a similar move to DCU. No reason to think Stanko can't turn it around like Canouse. FCC isn't a good landing spot. FCC hasn't filled the DM spot after failing to land Osvaldo Alonso so I would think that position is Stanko's to lose.
A little bit of a head scratcher as to why FCC needed to use TAM. Maybe it's due to them reportedly having to pay a small transfer fee to Frieburg as Stanko had 6-months remaining on his contract? I don't know.....seems kind of odd.
