There is a chance I might be relocating to the north burbs of San Diego.
In the Oceanside/Carlsbad area to be exact.
I am currently a youth soccer coach here in the Chicago area.
I would like to continue coaching and was wondering if anyone could suggest some top clubs in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area I should look into when and I do relocate.

I found this site and I think I am looking at District2. Is this correct?

    Any suggestions?

Go to www.calsouth.com for some info on teams/clubs. You may also want to visit the direct websites of San Diego clubs such as Surf, Nomads, Del Mar, Albion. You can also visit www.coastsoccer.com to see clubs in your area also. I don't know if you coach boys or girls. Surf is both, whereas Nomads is only a boys' club. Good luck in your search. You may also consider that Oceanside/Carlsbad is only 45 min. south of Orange County, CA and around 40 min. north of San Diego.

Thanks for your help. I am currently coaching girls and that is what I would like to continue with.

As for the commute times, 40-45 minutes is just a tad bit to much for my taste. I think I will be looking for teams in the Oceanside/Carlsad area.

I was interested in the Surfs but the commute is to much.

    Thanks again.

It may be unrealistic to look for short commutes in SD county, Carlsbad is where the southbound traffic gets really bad. The Surf and Sharks are high level girls programs, as well as the Hotspurs and RSF Attack, all just south of carlsbad. Closer to home (yours) the Carlsbad Lightning have fairly good teams on the girls side.
Further north, (OC) there's the San Clemente Soccer Club and the Blues and United who both have their home fields at Rancho Capistrano, in San Juan C.
Lots of top-notch girls programs in that 25 mile radius of Carlsbad, along the 5. Oh, yes, the (CSL) premier league, U16 and above, plays all their games at the Oaks Polo Fields in San Juan C. Travel is inevitable, but is minimized by staying in SC county.
Good luck in your search, you should be able to find a team, easily.

Carlsbad Lightning and Encinitas Express have decent paying girl's sides. Oceanside Breakers and Carlsbad Wave are poorer and so don't pay well or do as well. Poor boys teams can win, but poor girls teams almost never do. Vista Storm and NC United are splintered and weak, though the latter's coming on some.

RSF is about as far away as Sharks or Surf, though, like those two, it's a rich kids club. So, really, try Lightning and Express.

To correct/add to some previous comments

Nomads has both boys and girls, although their boys program has achieved national renown and produced many national/professional players. They are located in La Jolla and have practice fields in both La Jolla (near UCSD) and in Kearney Mesa (sharing fields with Notts Forest)

Hotspurs are located in El Cajon (which is WAY TOO far from North SD County)

Surf, Del Mar Sharks and Rancho Santa Fe are all top clubs with many teams located within a few miles of each other. Carmel Valley Manchester is around the corner from these big clubs but does well on developmental level. Carlsbad Lightning and Encinitas Express are good community based clubs. Oceanside Breakers, North County United, Vista Storm are all in that corner of the county but I know less about them.

check out Presidio League website for comparision
click on "girls game schedules" and then "click on club summary" and compare teams/standings/levels
    http://www.presidiosoccer.com/

Coast Soccer is a short commute north
    http://www.coastsoccer.com/
there's a link for "find a team" by county or scroll down to the bottom for "Clubs" links

CalSouth will give you the administrative side of the picture as well as both State Cup and Nationals Cup (under tournaments)
    http://www.calsouth.com/

and of course, browse around SoCalSoccer forum for the most comprehensive look at So Cal Soccer
    http://www.socalsoccer.com/forum/

Then, finally ... keep a map handy. Commuting is a FACT of life for So Cal. Buy a hybrid when you get here and invest in XM/Sirius for your commute.

    Good luck
