The loser of the South Africa versus Nigeria fixture will face Tunisia on the 15th of May." http://www.safa.net/index.php?page=bantwanafacenigeriainwcq
so I'm assuming UEFA now gets 3 spots(instead of 4)?? Host(1): Trinidad & Tobago AFC(3): North Korea, South Korea, Japan CONCACAF(2): Canada, Mexico CONMEBOL(3): Brazil, Chile, Venezuela UEFA(3): CAF(3): OFC(1): New Zealand
UEFA only ever had three spots. The final four in Europe are: Eire v. Germany Holland v. Spain The winners of those matches qualify for the finals, while the losing teams play off for third place, with the winner also heading to Trinidad & Tobago. The UEFA qualifiers take place in Nyon, Switzerland, June 22-26, if memory serves. The draw for the Finals takes place in Port-o-Spain at 1900 local time on Wednesday, or NZ time 1100 Thursday. Ghana - Tunisia 4-0 Ghana qualified for finals. ---------------------------------------------- South Africa have officially lodged a protest against Nigeria on allegations of fielding over-age players during the Under-17 World Cup qualifier at Opperheimer Stadium on Saturday. South Africa warned the Nigerians against fielding over-age players in the first leg, after losing 5-0, but they came back to to honour the second leg game against Bantwana on Saturday with the same squad. The country’s Under-17 ladies team lost 7-1 on aggregate against their counterparts after losing 2-1 at Opperheimer Stadium on Saturday. Bantwana manager, Fran Hilton Smith has confirmed the protest. “Yes I can officially confirm that we have lodged a protest against four Nigerian players who we believe are over-age and were not supposed to play in the Under-17 tournament. “We have submitted the necessary documents and paid the protest fee and are waiting for CAF to respond on the matter.” http://www.kickoff.com/news/15165/south-africa-lodge-protest-against-nigeria.php
So if this is true, I'm assuming Nigeria is disqualified and Ghana, Tunisia & South Africa all would go to the U-17 WC??
Truth has nought to do with it. Remember, the decision will be in the hands of Issa Hayatou and the rest of the CAF leadership. This is the crew that suspended Togo from CAF competiton for having the temerity to get themselves shot at.
