Anyone have any experience with Cablevision/iO Digital Cable? Just became available on my block and since satellite is not an option for me at the moment, it's my only way to get FSW.

Any good/bad features (besides no YES network)? Is it worth it?

I have digital io from cablevision in Long Island. I got it for FSW only.

They did not carry the MLS package last year, so if you do get it, please put pressure on them to get it for next year. Perhaps you can put pressure on them before you order it.

    The reception is very good.

Also got it primarily for FSW. Nice to have it back after Cablevision bounced it a couple of years ago for that great cable channel, PAX!!!!!

Great reception, great sound, after finally figuring out how to make it work with a digital amp. If you're using it in a home theatre setup you may want to check out the Scientific Atlanta (they make the box) web site for some suggestions on connections.

Anyone know how much a converter box is a month? Is it a different converter than for regular cable?

    Re: cablevision digital

They didn't bounce it, it was channel 31 that bounced it. WNYC was sold by the City of NY to PAX Communications and FSW (for some reason, thankfully) was shown on the channel between the time of the sale and when the PAX Network started.

#1, it is a different box, about 3x the size but slimmer.

#2, I believe they charge $3.50 per mo. per box.

I got it because of FSW and because it was actually $1 cheaper than what I was paying on my reg. cable bill. $65 vs. $66. Additionally, I believe I now get about 150 channels vs 65 channels.

Of course, Cablevision screwed up the FREE installation and have had to make 5 visits to the house. They give you a 3 hr time period of when they are stopping by. Of course, one tech is from a different division or company than the next, you always get a new tech, so to he!! with customer satisfaction. My wonderful wife stayed home each time to wait for the techs and was less than thrilled about it.

I have a wonderful pipe dream that the govt. wakes up to the uproar around the country and kicks out every cable operator from its current franchise and each cable area is opened up to free and unfettered competition.

Not much different than a regular Power Box (standard converter) then. Excellent.

Our installation is November 30th, so hopefully they get it right the first time. Although with that being Turkey weekend, I doubt we'll get the top people to install it, and be in trouble if it doesn't go right.

    Crossing my fingers...

    Thanks for the info.
