    0-0 in the 20th minute.

Gus the Mule ERRR Ref is being inconsistent in his calls so far <shock>

WTF is up with the "Mountain Man" look by Ben Olsen? [IMG]

DCU is minus that punkass Moreno, plus they are missing Ryan Nelson and Ivan McKinley on the backline.

    Concerning the field...

Remember when everyone bitched about the Cabbies playing on the carpet during NFL season?

Well, this is the Meadowlands with grass all the time...the torn up parts, including the sidelines, are the result of those 300-pounders.

I'll still take the ripped up grass to carpet any day.

A good point, but i'm not sure what is worse.... runnign up and down on the fake stuff (i.e. CONCRETE) ... or playing on a crap field with lots of mini foxholes in the field.

Some excellent GK saves in this game. Yes, I'm partial to those [IMG]

Full time - and DCU escapes with the 1-0 win.

Gus is simply and incredibly incompetent as a ref. Metros fans have every right to complain.

Crew still tied for first in the East with the Cabbies, but has the tiebreaker in GD ... +0 to -2 ...

MetroStars now have to go to DC this Saturday, and face United AGAIN, knowing that DCU is still fighting for their playoff lives. Then they go to New England, who is still alive for playoff contention.

Suddenly, NY/NJ's playoff road is a wee bit bumpier :p

Loved Jack's comment about Maradona being a loser. That was hilarious.

Craig Zaidie would be a solid addition for the Crew. Plus, he's a spider, which makes him that much more marketable.

Doesn't look good for the metros. I'd hate to see them miss the playoffs for no other reason than their coach dresses so well for matches. I hate those workout suits coaches wear.

I am in complete agreeance. Next time Ben Olsen visits New England, he should stop at their stadium and pick up some free trial packets.

of course, DC has only 3 eligible defenders and no defensive mids all out because of suspensions and/or injury

What???? Zaidie is the biggest hack in the history of soccer. He has injured more players with his stupid tackles than anyone. I don't ever want player like that on the Crew, McCarty is close enough.

This result is huge, with a Crew win on Saturday, that puts us in driver seat for the division title.

I agree, the result is exactly what the Crew need to have a good shot at getting the division. It would be nice to see DC double up on the metros and get another 3 out of them. Also, Twellman's side has been playing better recently, so I expect the Rotmasters to have a tough final game.

With the Crew 1pt ahead of the Fire, winning on Saturday assures we finish ahead of them. I can't remember the last time MLS has been so down to the wire on such a broad scale come playoff time. This has been a pretty good season overall.

The simple fact now is that a win on Saturday guarantees us the playoffs, regardless of whatever else happens.

I'll take that and be very happy, thanks. Winning the division would be sweet for sure, but from where we were in April, this is phenominal.

And you all quipped about eight teams making the playoffs. I said if before the season started, the most fun was watching the bottom feeders fight for the last places in the playoffs. Granted, I didn't think it was going to be this close to the wire, but damn is it fun to watch.

Anyone care to bet on who's not going to make it?

Talk about a difficult game to watch, ugh. Dc has their work cut out for them with Reyes out next game. Who the hell can they put on that backline now? Oh and did anyone notice the legendary Namoff come on in for the final few minutes. Almost a Crew superstar by way of the Gazza trade that never happened Namoff may still play a huge role in the Crews playoff positioning with all of DC's injuries and suspensions.
I don't even know who to bet won't make it. It is quite possible if we win both these games vs Chicago that they won't make it though. Now that would be funny.

I would be more concerned with winning the division. Assuming THAT happens, and if SJ can win the West, that would ensure that we would NOT have to play at Spartan Stadium, on that tiny little field where they are practically unbeatable.

Everyone has seen how "well" they do on the road :p

That makes it TWO straight games in which Gus St. Silva has demonstrated utter and complete ineptitude. Players have no respect for him, and chaos ensues.

Hopefully he finds the sideline just as quickly as Noel Kenny did.
