From Mitchell: The Work Continues 4 hours of free Crew soccer on Good Friday. Sucks to be in the wrong state right now...
Anyone going to the scrimmages? I think I may make the drive up from Athens. I've got nothing else to do Friday afternoon.
I am sooooo there. This is all the encouragement I need to beat this weird cold/flu thing I seem to have come down with last night like Guille and Goalfunkel beat Nick Garcia and Stefan Frei.
As I've mentioned many many times before, I was the beat reporter for Marshall's soccer team at our school paper last season. As such, I wish I could go to that and see my two favorite teams. Marshall has a pretty decent squad for not being a "soccer school", and the men were able to end Kentucky's undefeated streak at the beginning of the season last year.
if you end up going let me know, depending on what all I got going on I may want to join. With some gas money of course
I'll see if I can make it. The 2nd match should be over about 2, giving me 5 hours to get back to Cleveland to attend church.
I always like these games, If you don't read Shawn or these boards you would never know about them. Me I will bring my Tim Horton's coffee and I might do a little shopping at the team store. I think this game should be interesting isn't Robert's son on the Marshall team? I did see a Michagan State coach or scout at the Notre Dame Game, I was wondering why he was there.
Parking is free, admission is free. There are no concessions, so bring your own snacks. If you're lucky, there will be a bathroom open.
If they don't let you bring the Keg in you can always leave it in the Parking lot and come in and out.
Um, did anyone happen to check out the weather forecast for Friday? Partly cloudy, 78 degrees http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/43201
I thought I saw a phamplet on Sat. introducing the new guys and giving a small blurb on each. I thought it said Yanez had a knock and was out for a bit, of all the crap I brought home I can't seem to find it. I went to MLS.com injurys & transactions... and it had Andy as the only player listed. It was last updated Nov. 12th. I also saw Grendi and Elenio have been waived to be compliant. I'll watch for Yanez fri. and try to get back to you.
I think this is the same guy I saw at the Norte Dame game, I thought he was pretty quick and he had some ok crosses they were just a little to high. GBS was talking to him about his crosses during the game, the man was teaching the young guys on what to do. I have emailed some people about the game, it's spring break for some schools.
Shawn provides a midweek update mostly pertaining to injury updates but also news of a french trailist.
Seems like the injuries aren't too bad at this point *knock on wood*, and we're going to have some lineup decisions to make in the near future. Still, that's a pretty good problem to have. It's always a good feeling when you have players who could easily be starting at your disposal on the bench.
Bummer on Francis. Good thing Yanez can (ostensibly) play some full back if needed. It will also be good to have Marshall back; I wonder if he gets paired with Brunner or Iro. Griffit, the trialist, has been a journeyman in some fairly high-profile leagues (CCC, Swedish League, Ligue 2), former France U21 player who is listed as a winger on Wikipedia. Doesn't seem to have been able to stick around anywhere for very long and Houston passed on him. Can't see him sticking here.
I am as surprised at myself for saying this as you are to hear it...I would like to see a Marshall - Iro pairing. If Iro can keep up this form, that would be beastly!
