even when that happens, i think it will be even worse for the league. We wont catch up to you for quite a while and when we do, this league will be no different than La liga. Honestly going to be interesting how everything plays out financially in all the leagues in the net few years because without tv deals like the PL all the leagues will struggle for financial parity. If in say 10 years the gap is enormous between Bayern/BVB and the rest of the teams and the situation exists in La liga (barca, real, atelti), PSG, etc. I could see a super league type thing developing

That could happen. It wouldn't if teams with massive potential like Hamburg and Stuttgart weren't so terribly mismanaged. It sucks, but it's not BVB or Bayern's fault that others are failing to use the resources available to them.

Sitting on the train and just noticed that our preliminary half year results came out last Friday.

Revenues after adjusting for transfers nearly flat with last year. (143.5mln) Not bad at first glance given no CL revenues. Full report should be available on the 26th

A fantastic question. I don't know but I found it interesting they are referring to Eurowings as our champions league partner, not our overall travel partner. Perhaps we are splitting up our travel.

Turkish airlines still on the website as of a minute ago.

True. I mean we wouldn't end our relationship with TA before the season is up.

If you're right that TA remains a major sponsor then that would be weird. They are competitors after all. I honestly think our contact is up and EW made are better offer.

I read the German version, sat there in disbelief and read it in English again to make sure. 100M more than the year prior thanks to Hummels, TV revenue and China trip. So if we get to the semis and go to China again we are looking at almost 440M. Holy shit. That's amazing.

    Yeah no pressure Tommy.

Interesting that we are about to become number 2 all time in points in the BL

    From the report:

BVB soon to become all-time number 2 in Germany’s table (2 and 3 point rule); BVB already clear no. 2 based on last 15 years

Given BVB’s strong performance in the Bundesliga over the last 20 years (no. 3 after Bayern Munich and Leverkusen) and especially the last 15 years (no. 2 after Bayern), it is poised to rise to the no. 2 position this season in the all-time Bundesliga table. BVB is currently 2 points shy of no. 2 Werder Bremen (2,233 vs 2,235 points). A combination next weekend of a BVB win (vs newcomer Leipzig) and a Bremen loss to Augsburg would lift BVB into second place in the all-time table (Bayern Munich is the clear no. 1). Once BVB is 5 points clear of Bremen this season – it was already three points clear after last weekend – it will be in second place all-time. Bremen (which barely avoided relegation last season) has averaged 39 points per season the last five seasons vs BVB’s 68 points. Comparing the last 5 seasons with the preceding 15, BVB has managed to improve its points per season by 18% on average. The top performer in this respect is Borussia Mönchengladbach (+35%), while Bayern Munich has improved its point totals by ‘only’ 14%. In absolute terms, however, Bayern still generates 16 points more per season than BVB (average of last 5 seasons).

Apparently UEFA altered it's coefficient system unbeknownst to me.

Kicker has taken the new coefficients and applied it against last year's results to see how much the BL clubs would be earning in the CL.

The growth in earnings is simply incredible. 3 years ago Juventus were the highest earner with about 65M without having much to share at all with just Milan. This year Real made almost 3 times as much despite sharing with all 3 Liga teams.

Last year we earned 63M from TV revenue both domestic and international (according to Deloitte this number should be 81M but whatever). This number will go up by 60M next year because of the better TV deal both domestic and international and we get a much bigger share in the CL TV pool.

The following year the intl part of the BL revenue will get jacked by about 80M resulting in an increase of 85% overall (domestic and intl). Not quite PL type money but it's a huge increase.

Basically we will be going to Asia and America every summer from now on. It's not just the commercial revenue that will be growing at an astonishing rate.

That is great to hear. With this strategy we'll close the huge gap between Bayern and us sooner or later.

More likely later than sooner. There are some massive gaps between us and Bayern. Unlike Italy and England where TV revenue plays the most important role, in Germany it's about the commercial stream. The best example is the Puma deal. They pay us 15M a year. Now it might go up due to CL participation or maybe two years of CL participation afterwards but Bayern is miles ahead with 60M from Adidas.

Of course both us and Bayern pale in comparison to United who rake in 120M from Adidas. I'm now hearing that Nike is willing to match that for Real Madrid.

I think allowing Puma to buy a stake in the club was a bad idea. But I hope I'm proven wrong.
