Wolfowitz and Doug Feith-some of the original architects of the Iraq strategy-are neo-conservative(I believe they often call themselves "neoliberals".Most of them are Jewish.They were liberals when years of American foreign policy was largely bipartisan and in agreement about the preservation of Israel by any means and the defense of any state against Communism which led in part to the Vietnam War. As was noted before,Cheney,Rumsefeld,and other traditional Reeps have used the neocons as a part of their drive to complete and solidify the shift from a majority Democratic electorate to a majority Republican one. Or were they in fact used by the neocons insuch a way that the blowback will lead to another realignment in American politics?History will decide.
