Yikes! Looks like we're finally going in. God Bless the troops, and may there be minimal civialian casualties.
Well, if it's going to happen, let's just hope and pray it's over as soon as possible. A protracted conflict may vindicate my opinion, but it would not be good for the world. Having said that, even a quick victory would not change my attitude towards this war, or the ideology that lies behind it. PS Hopefully the only "collateral damage" will be Tony Blair's career,
CNN, FNC, MSNBC and some local news coverage of Bush to address nation begin 7pm ET/4PM PT. I guess it's discuss. AP report Arab League say "Today is a very grave day". WND report local southern Texas sheriff say they spotted foreign troops cross Mexico-U.S. border. It was not drug smugglers or Mexico military, police but say no idea who's foreign troops. I guess it's Iraq or Al-Qaeda neither.
I'd go get a case of beer and play a drinking game based on how may lies and mispronounciations Bush delivers but I don't think that case would last five minutes.
I think it's a little late in the game to heap on some more stupid anti bush stuff. Can't you just say a prayer for all those that will be involved?
Here's a thought - Why not try not dropping bombs on civilians and sending in our sons and daughters to an unnecessary war desired by a President trying desperately to distract us from his various domestic failures among other cynical and self-serving reasons having nothing to do with WMDs or threats to America?
Macbeth, Act I, Scene 7: Macb: If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well It were done quickly. If the assassination Could trammel up the consequence, and catch With his surcease success; that but this blow Might be the be-all and the end-all here, But here, upon this bank and shoal of time, We’d jump the life to come. But in these cases We still have judgement here, that we but teach Bloody instructions, which, being taught, return To plague the inventor. This even-handed justice Commends the ingredients of our poison’d chalice To our own lips.
You cannot petition the Lord with prayer... - J. Morrison Your equation of Bush and Stalin is appreciated. Seriously, though, if I have a choice between someone praying for our soldiers and for Iraqi civilians or someone actually getting off his ass and working against the unnecessary war they'll die in, I'll take the latter any day.
CNN is reporting that Bush is going to Saddam that he must get out of Iraq in order to avoid war. Funny, in this thread less than a week ago, some of the pro-war people were saying that regime change was not necessary in order to avoid war. So unless someone can say that things have really changed in the last five days, screw all y'all, it's been about getting Saddam out all along.
Re: You cannot petition the Lord with prayer... - J. Morrison so are you going to Iraq to act as a human shield?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by joe pakolies I can't think of anything clever or even relevant to say but that won't stop me from making an ass of myself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dude, isn't this your politics board credo? Your next time will be your first, no doubt.
When the pro-war chorus stops trying to link Saddam with 9/11, I'll start feeling the pressure to get creative.
Re: Re: You cannot petition the Lord with prayer... - J. Morrison So, are you enlisting tomorrow to go fight?
You are going to look awfully silly if British and American soldiers find substantial evidence linking them. But it is fact - denial of the truth doesn't require creativity.
