It's now fashionable among the lefties to trash NoChild Left Behind, which passed the Senate with a measley 87 votes.

What really happened, of course, was that the teacher's unions realized that Bush meant business, that he intended for them to actually teach kids to read and that they weren't going to be getting truckloads of Federal money until there were some changes.

At which point their pals in Washington started this absurd "Bush lied about education" baloney. It's just another lie that the Democrats believe they can repeat so often that it's accepted as truth.

READ THE ARTICLE and then go forth armed to combat the lies.

The educrats have ample reason to be upset. Before NCLB, the public schools’ failure to educate poor minority kids resulted in ever-increasing streams of federal money to local districts—more than $200 billion over the last four decades, disbursed with no questions asked. Now along comes Bush, requiring state and local districts to prove that the programs that federal dollars pay for have a solid scientific basis and actually work.
