US President George W. Bush has consulted an outside lawyer in case he needs to retain him in the grand jury investigation of who leaked the name of a covert CIA operative last year, the White House said. There was no indication that Mr Bush is a target of the leak investigation, but the president has decided that in the event he needs an attorney's advice, "he would retain him," White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said.
I always get a laugh when conservatives, who love chastising "ambulance chasers" (as they would call lawyers on most other instances) are the first to rush to one at the slightest hint of trouble.....
I actually have a hard time faulting him for getting a lawyer in this case. If I were going in front of a grand jury, I would consult a lawyer whether I had done something wrong or not. Hell, if I have to go to traffic court I would consult a lawyer.
Of course, according to this article, Bush needs a good lawyer. http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_4629.shtml
"This is a criminal matter. It's a serious matter. I have met with an attorney to determine whether or not I need his advice," Bush said..."
Everyone hates lawyers until they need one. I rememeber when I was selling copiers for a lioving you could apply that to my profession as well.
Thanks! Very interesting....Funny (or is it? ) also how this piece of news has been buried with all the Tenet resignation (by Mid July) coverage......
What happened was treason and is much worse than what Clinton did. It is amazing that more hasn't been made by this. Then again, this Administration has controled the media far more than any other.
