http://www.whitehouse.gov/nsc/nss.pdf "We will not hesitate to act alone...to exercise our right of self-defense by acting pre-emptively against...terrorists." Those of you who criticize the Bush Administration for its "cowboy diplomacy" are REALLY not going to like this. Yippee ki yay.
I'm ok with preemptive strikes against terrorists because they cannot be deterred but preemptive strikes against states are ill-advised. States can be deterred and the precidence of the world's leading power using preemptive srikes opens up the option to all potential powers.
sorry, I've only been here a year, so I forget. Give me some time, any remaining sensablity will be washed away.
Interesting. Page 3 also contains the following tidbit: Colin, that's a long document. What page is your quote on?
I got that snippet actually from the Financial Times. I haven't read the whole thing through yet myself.
If Saddam Hussein is smart, he'll come up with the same policy for Iraq, thus morally justifying whateverthehell they can pull off in the US. It's an interesting question...which of Bush's policies would he be comfortable with other nations adopting. I mean, look how pissed he is that Germany won't go along with us. Imagine how mad he'd be if Germany adopted Bush's policies.
