Busch takes over the Sports Page

He deserves every bit of attention he gets. And more from Arena as well. But Arena hates the Crew, as we all know.

The only way he'd be called in is if we were playing Dc for the conferenmce championship and the US had camp for some reason. He'd call in Buschie, Martino, and Cunny. But then he'd sit them in favor of Wolyniec, Ralston, and Matt Reis. Just because.

 

I don't have a conspiracy theory about Arena. JC likes his women big; Andrulis is no different with his keepers. Brad has a gimungous wingspan, Keller's reach is impressive as well, and Meola... well he's just big!

Also, those articles add a little something to the match tommorrow that the Crew, in their infinite wisdom, have not promoted:

A win vs. NE gives Buschy more wins than Friedel; which directly compares Busch to one of the top keepers in the world.

 

You know, I'm not one of these idiots who love to wank on about how MLS "Marketing" or Crew "Marketing" sucks. (Actually, I'm a much different kind of idiot) A lot of guys consider "marketing" as a fancy way of saying "sales" or "peddling" which it most assuredly is not.

But the Crew DOES have "marketing" goals and I fail to see why they can't get e little creative with regard to Jon Busch.

Tell me quick, who else is there in CBus right now? The BJ's aren't playing, OSU doesn't have anybody you ever heard of before and nobody cares about the Clips. Why isn't Buschy on radio stations and making appearances and even doing radio spots and billboards? Why isn't the Crew raising this guys public profile? Why isn't Busch a household name in CBus?

The Crew staff just sits over there on their asses and worries about how many tx the Gahanna Youth SOccer Association is gonna buy. GO CREATE SOMETHING you turds.

 

They could have done some big stories about Elliott and Duncan's World Cup adventures. It would make interesting reading about playing Vanatu on a remote island and some of the other smaller contestants.

For some reason I was flipping channels on Thursday Morning and heard him on 96.3 with the two morning idiots there. He was on for more than one segment...ala what you might hear on CD101.

 

If you see Buschie interviewed after the games, you can virtually see him bleeding black and gold. He's outspoken in interviews and will say the fans deserved to see better if the team hasn't played well. You look at him on the field and you know he loves to play for this team, for the city of Columbus, and all the fans. This is a guy who with a right bit of promotion would be idolized in any city. All it would take is a little bit of effort.

 

Perhaps it's too difficult to market a guy in a straight-jacket.

As for Buischy, hell yes, marketing a guy who sleeps in a padded cell is a gold mine. Fans LOVE lunatics. I can't think of a single player in Crew history who acts more like you'd have to kill him to get the shirt off him than JB, although Duncan is right up there.

 

..I'm sure all of us would be a hell of a lot higher if it weren't for our loyalty to the Crew. I've never picked against them..but I swear to God that every week that I predict a tie..they win. And reversely, everytime I pick a win..they tie.
