I'm gonna copy and paste this from the site, as I'm lazy and I wrote that anyways. Buy your spot on the bus here, now!
Remember, RBNY's bringing a traveling contingent of mouth-breathers, so we need to show up in numbers.
Got my spots. Even if this isn't good for you it'd be great to pass the word along to friends who could potentially benefit from what is essentially public transportation to the stadium that you can drink on.
Hope it is something they will consider doing again in the future, but there were only something like 25 people on it (well done to the Riders, but why is it on the supporters to organize this in the first place?)
I think they're going to try and do it again, once more this season. But this isn't an every game thing.
But that's the problem. You just know there is someone out there who found out about this and is saying that they would have gone on the bus if they only knew. The next question they are asking is where to sign up for the bus for this week's game. I give the Revs credit for doing this, but if the bus was only 1/2 full, I can see then judging this as unsuccessful, and using that to not do these in the future. Instead, what they need to do is run buses for an entire season (or start at any time and do it for the rest of the year). So the guy above who just heard about it will go next week, and the bus will be 75% full. Then the 3rd week, since people know that they are doing it every week, maybe they will need to have a second bus. And so it goes. It will take a while to get the word of mouth going for something like this, and sure, they will lose money early on. But if they stick with it for the whole year, they will more than make that back when all is said and done.
The Riders did this, taking a loss, but hopefully setting up for a more successful bus trip later this year. The Revs had nothing to do with this.
Ok my next question will be does anyone coming from Boston (Fenway area) have room for 2 Revs fans ? Thanks in advance.
That would be a great move in my opinion. The problem with the 7/8 bus trip is there aren't very many college kids in Boston this time of year so it was always going to be difficult to fill up the bus. Those that are still in town are probably either going to Northeastern for their summer semester or doing internships. Everyone else is back home wherever that is. I like the fact the Riders offered the bus and agree with Tom that bus trips to revs games are a worthwhile endeavor. They should be viewed through a more long term approach to brand awareness and interest in the club (and a recruiting opportunity for the SGs) among the urban crowd rather than judged one-off in the short term. In late September, I think this bus trip will flourish, when there are more targeted people to market to and help spread the world virally. In aggregate, (hopefully) the campaign will prove to be successful.
Did the game falling on a Sunday as opposed to a Saturday potentially hurt bus ridership at all? And did the Revs do anything to advertise it through the website and social media? Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth...
Sorry, my mistake. I thought this was a Revs-sponsored initiative, not the Riders. Really, this is somethig the Revolution need to do, and not rely on the supporters groups to do the heavy lifting (and take the financial hit without reaping the benefit).
