Injured: Bergvall, Kudus, Richarlison, Bentancur, Davies, Kulusevski and Maddison. Might be available: Palhinha. This is typically the kind of game where we flame out following a big win. In the last 2 seasons, we have dropped 13 of a possible 30 points against the bottom 3. Meanwhile, there are no signs of incomings with Vinai and Johan asleep at the wheel at the transfer desk.
Here is the team: Vicario; Porro, Danso, Romero, Van de Ven; Bissouma, Gallagher; Odobert, Simons, Spence; Solanke. Subs: Kinsky, Dragusin, Tel, Udogie, Gray, Muani, Scarlett, Byfield, Williams-Barnet.
HT 1-1. After Vdv gives us a well-deserved lead, the ********-up, piece of cow turd keeper of ours gives the ball away, and from the resulting throw-in and subsequent phase, they equalize out of nothing.
Both Solanke and Romero switch off on their goal. The second half will be a test of the fragile character of these players.
FT 2-2. Romero rescues a point again with a late header, but more points dropped against shit sides. Unless our useless board gets in quality in what remains of the window, we are going down, regardless of manager.
The poor goal we conceded at the end of the first half knocked the confidence from the players, and you could see the fragility for most of the second half. We are embarrassingly poor in attack, this is the worst group of forwards I have seen at the club in my over 40 years as a supporter.
I didn't watch. I don't know why. I just paid attention to the score line and was unsurprised by the half-time line because Spurs be Spurs. So sad to merely draw 19th in the table.
Both move on to joint second with 4 goals a piece. I know Frank was hired in part to fix the defense. I was under the impression that was to stop leaking goals, not score them. They now each have more goals than the £90 summer signing of Simmons and Kudus combined.
Oh and probably the last point we’ll earn until March. City, United, Newcastle and Arsenal up next before an “easier” game against Fulham. Can’t be arsed to look at the schedule the teams below us have, but doesn’t look too far fetched that we’re flirting with a relegation battle.
Flirting with relegation? We are in a relegation battle and after those 5 games you mentioned, I would not be surprised if we're in the bottom 3.
The finishing by Vdv and Romero were centre forward quality. Unfortunately, our strikers, Solanke and Muani are rubbish. Solanke had zero impact on the game, he can't hold up the ball, his movement is terrible, and the only chance he had, he header straight to the keeper.
Couldnt watch, as i was working. My highly anti-Frank mate was again lamenting his tactical ineptitude. But it looks like we had 60+% possession and 11 shots on goal (18 overall) to their 4. 11 on goal is an astronomical figure relative to much of what we've seen. Anyway, I know those stats can be meaningless, depending on the quality of said possession/shots. And of course, our forwards couldn't score at a Tri-Delt sorority party. So im asking ... how did we look, generally speaking?
Our last 5 games we have failed to beat Brentford, Sunderland, Bournemouth, West Ham, and Burnley. We have won 2 of the last 14. We are going down.
Dang! that list sounds crazy bad But... on the bright side it looks like there's enough mediocrity in the whole league this season that we should be fine. We are actually closer to 5th place than 18th place. By 1 pt
