Shockingly, there was no thread w/ an [R] in it for this match. Kreis 17' on a beautiful header served in from the left by Davis. Whatever you do, don't give this guy a chance, Bruce Burn 1-0 United (I am watching the webcast and you can hear the Inferno w/ their Dema chants, but I can't quite make them out)
41'--Rhine beats the offside trap through the middle of the D, but a great save by Rimando for a corner. 41'--In the ensuing corner kick, somehow Gbandi is completely unmarked right in the goal mouth and slots the corner home. Dallas 2-0 DC
Listening to Rongen for a half and during halftime on the webcast, I can see why so many DC fans hated him. Very simplistic in his comments --"Convey needs to rise to the next level by making those around him play better" or some such.
51'--Eskandarian has a nice touch to Convey on the left side who blasts it from the edge of the box past Countess far post. Burn 2-1 United DC starting to push the action a bit.
54' Chad takes a kick at Convey's lower leg and gets the yellow, but Convey also picks up a yellow for throwing the ball at him. I take back what I said about Rongen. He mentions that Deering was around and very emotionally involved in both Kovalenko injuries, and he's maybe a bit caught up emotionally. 2 DAL-DC 1
60': Rhine almost puts it in on a one-timer from Pareja in the corner. Forces a good save from Rimando 2-1.
65' Ball ricochets off of Petke about 40 yards out and careens toward the goal. Rimando has to scramble to knock it away. 2-1
70' Gbandi having a good game. Rhine and Davis appeared to be active in the first half, but not doing much now. Dallas about to make a sub... I think EJ should come in. But Cerritos will be coming in. Oscar is doing great out there. I never have given him props as being a top player, but he's doing very well tonight.
74' Pareja slices and dices down the left corner, gets the ball into Joselito, who spins toward the box, gets his legs tangled w/ Stewart. Stewart unluckily falls down backward and clips Little Joe Cow JUST inside the box. PENAL!!!! Cerritos slots it home, 3-1. Looks like we will take the game. Now who's willing to step up and pound Dema?
Not all that great, but I can see little people running around. I imagine a better video card would help out. Sound is flawless!
Could be a good sports weekend. I'm seeing Roger Longhorn Clemens go for 300 tomorrow across the street from me at the New Tigers' stadium. 3-1, 81' in.
Remember when Olsen could beat people off the dribble? Not now. A lot of dropoffs and decent ball control skills, but not dangerous. Aside from Convey, no one looks dangerous for them whatsoever.
86' About 3 seconds after I say convey is dangerous and he runs in and forces an awesome save by DJ off the post. 3-1
89' Stoitchkov gets through the D and passes to Convey who gets his 2nd. This kid's getting good. We've got to H O L D O N ! !
91' 3 minutes of extra time. 2 mins left. Quintanilla puts a nice shot on goal but blocked. not much left
Final Whistle 3-2. Defense looked a little shaky at the end. Why no defensive subs? My players of the game: Dallas: Oscar (runner up Gbandi) DC: Convey Dema gets a hack in the 90th minute to actually give more than he gets in this game. Bummer. But at least we don't suck, like some teams I know.
I could hear your fan club's Dema chant very well at one point. "Dema Kovalenko, do you want your leg broke?" I can't wait until you guys get your new stadium. I thought all 4 run-of-play goals were excellent.
I have to offer my condolences on what is perhaps the worst pitch in the history of MLS. I had seen highlights before tonight, but that was awful. Hats off to the faithful who show up every match to watch MLS teams attempt to play the game on that abortion of a surface.
Kreis' goal was superb, and Bobby hit two very nice ones. I think Stone Phillips could have scored on the Gbandi goal, which seemed to result from an intense defensive lapse. But I admit I haven't seen the replay but one time.
