    From the Burn's website:

"The Dallas Burn will play three preseason matches at Dragon Stadium in Southlake during the next week. The matches will mark the team's first games at their new home in Southlake since the move was announced last month. All three matches will be free of charge and open to the public. The first match will be on Saturday, February 15 at 9:00 a.m. vs. Incarnate Word. The team will then face SMU on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. and the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, February 22 at 10:00 a.m. The team will then depart for Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Monday, February 24 for training and matches against other MLS squads. They will return to Dallas on Thursday, March 6."

Anyone get to watch the Burn's scrimmage today against Incarnate Word at Dragon Stadium?

BTW, what/where exactly is Incarnate Word? It sounds like a Catholic girl's school.

I think Incarnate Word is a Catholic University in San Antonio.

Someone posted(burn page) that chivas scored two goals and that EJ and Ledesma had one each.

    3rddegree, can you confirm this?

They are. My brother was recruited by them but I think they're Division II. Supposedly has one of the best Div II (or whatever) programs.

Not exactly the highest quality academics in history either.

I'd agree with Hala. Catholic universities in this country suck.

Um, not all of them. Just this one in particular.

Of course, I'm speaking as an employee/student of a Jesuit Catholic University, but whatever.

I was there, but without numbers and pictures of the new guys, it's hard to say who did what. LOTS of new faces.

Three 30 minute periods. I didn't see Ryan, Jason or Oscar, although I heard that Ryan and Oscar were in the stands.

Incarnate Word, a small college with an excellent soccer program, played very well, and scored when Jordan Stone and Matt Bendeke (sp?) were on the back line - along with a keeper I didn't recognize, who came out way off his line. Lots of new faces were in at the same time when the goal was scored. The Incarnate Word supporters (20 or so) made a LOT of noise in the stadium.

DJ was limping after the first period of play; don't know if he just got stepped on or what. Broome has wheels. I could hear lots of good communication between all the guys on the field (on the visitor side, only 10 people or so - 10 feet behind players bench). Ronnie O, T- Bone, Gbandi looked good. Vaca seemed a step slow, thinner in the face somehow. He and Chivas both gave TV interviews, but I didn't see which station.

Turf seemed to play pretty well except for one spot in the corner where everyone seemed to lose their footing trying to turn.

It was a lot of fun to watch. Glad I went.

(winking face here). I read one of your posts where Loyola was mentioned. Hence my jape.

Having grown up in San Antonio, and having done various activities in the cool great area that Incarnate Word and Trinity inhabit, and having tipped a few at the bombay and the broadway 5050 and then down on St. Mary's, I meant not a word of it, although Tyrone Willingham now dances with the devil.

Unfortunately I was out of town on business. I am trying to get a game report, and if/when I do I will post it. I also heard Chivas had two goals and an assist.

    How was the stadium, Valerie?

Did you get to sit in the club seats?

    Ah...understood.

Most of my hate for schools is actually reserved for Catholic institutions. Just not mine.

Specifically Notre Dame and DePaul. Grr.

The stadium seemed small, but first class. Like I said, the few fans there seemed to be for Incarnate Word, and they were able to make a LOT of noise.

Didn't get to the club seats - I had three 16 year girls with me - so we sat behind the players, if you know what I mean.

Still, I feel a lot better - the view from behing the goal will be different, but we are really going to be able to influence the atmosphere of every game.

Looking forward to it, although now I know I won't be able to make either the Tulsa game or opening day.

Maybe I'll see some more of you next Saturday?

I've got a couple daughters, 17 and 11, and not surprisingly, they also like sitting near the bench area.

I'm hoping to take in Saturday's match too, so if I see someone with 3 sixteen year old girls in tow, I'll drop by and say hello.

Chivas did score two, and EJ scored, I dont know who scored the 4th.

Oscar, Chad, and Jason were doing a soccer clinic in Trophy Club during the match, but they might have been in the stands for the final 30 (they played 3 30's).

Anyone gonna be there wednesday night vs SMU?

Come on, how can you hate LSU? It sucks that we don't have a soccer team, but we don't suck.

Glad to see the Burn pick up a win, even if it's just preseason.

Stone trying out a right back is a bad sign for Bussey, but a good one for McKeon, I think.
