1 word, PATHETIC! 3-1 to KC, first two goals happened so fast, where was the Defense? T-Bone's worst game with the Burn thus far, AWFUL! If Jefferies doesn't swich him and Suarez after that then I don't know whats going on in his head. His crosses were crap, his defense was absent. Davis looked lost in the first half, did a little better playing in the middle in the second half. Don't even get me started with Bencke (sp?). DJ made an amazing save to keep crap boy Fabbro off the board. WORST START EVER!!!!!!!! Stadium venting: I still hate the stadium, I feel like they could film the sequel of daddy day care there, so many kids (not that thats bad, but it gets a little ridiculous) and attendance was terribly low. I had a guy tell me to "keep it clean" when I was telling random people they sucked. SUCK? Go hide in a closet if you think thats bad, jeez. On the bright side: the soccer lines were darker.
This is all Jeffries' doing--if he had signed a decent SI to partner Kreis up top, the Burn might actually have an offense. I harken back to the nights he went out and drank beer in Chile with 3rd degree while the team was falling apart. What happened with all those trials? Never have Dave Dir and Ariel Graziani looked so good.
Jeffries better pull his head out in a hurry and find a way to generate MORE offense and NOT GET KILLED ON COUNTERS.
What are you talking about he was one of our few players that created some offense. Vaca did nothing, he need to gain some weight immediately. I said it in the pregame thread, Morrow has been the problem in the deffense all along, We need to combine Suarez and Bonseu in the center.
What? Maybe this explains why we suck, we are doing totally the opposite than during pre-season. 1. we are playing decent teams 2. MJ cant get a beer during the game
Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] Man, he gave away at least 6-7 balls tonight while trying to combine with someone..... Morrow was to blame on Brown's goal, but Suarez was completely caught out on the first goal. At the same time, both goals were from tremendous passes... The third goal was offside, but that still doesn't excuse our piss poor offensive production!
Re: Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] your probably right. Im just pissed that Vaca didnt do anything on the right side.
Didn't KC also beat Dallas in the pre-season 3-0? Dallas couldn't have been completely brutal, they got off 17 shots.
yea well some of those were Davis' pansy shots, plus we had room to shoot twice that, SHOOT THE BALL! I don't know whats our fixation on setting everything up to look pretty, SHOOT THE FRICKEN BALL! Bottom Line: we have no offense, we have Kreis who we can count on to get one in, but he still plays with his back to the goal (whatever happened to those 30 yard bombs?), Rhine is ok, I can't believe he didn't finish that Meola error! EJ is just overrated, I'm sorry folks I know I'm going to get flammed for that but he is. Hopefully Cerritos can make it back to his good form he was in before he got hurt (he played today). We have no creativity and no Ronnie or Pareja and it's really showing.
Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] i actually thuought the EJ was the one player that looked like he could actually break out an dmake a difference for you gguys. i have to admit i was a bit stumped when jeffries took him out. notice...i dont say happy. just stumped.
T-Bone was just awful. I stopped counting all the missed passes he had. First half it appeared Dallas was sleepwalking. The 2nd half, they actually played with some passion. Johnson did not play well but neither did Kreis. Paul Broome was dangerous going forward. Ahh, I am just upset at the scoreline and this will probably be my last game of the year. Unfortunately I am leaving the country for a few months and don't know the exact date of my return. I just hope when I get back, Dallas will have at least made the playoffs. I sat in the reserve section and some lady right behind me was very upset with the opposing player introductions. She thought the "you suck" chant was horrible. This is what is happening to the Burn right before our very eyes. We have become soft on the field as well as the stands. I need a get out of free pass from the reserve section. I don't mind kids, but damn there is an infestation in my section. Welcome to the kinder gentler Burn....Flat out disgusting.
It was actually Morrow who had the nightmare of a first half. Suarez was hard-pressed to cover for him. Vaca has never been known to be a defensive player, but he actually did better vs. KC than he has ever done in a Burn uniform. He had much more aggressive challenges on the ball, but he will never be known as a decent defender.
Lets face it, the boys have their heads down. You could see it after the first goal, and it led directly to the second. This is a team who hasn't gotten a break this year, and JUST when it seemed like a leader was going to step up in the center of the midfield, our beloved ROB, he gets taken out by our nemisis with only a token punishment. We have goals being score on us when players are obviously offside. We have defenders playing in unfamiliar positions (although I agree with Jefferies trying this out, it just isn't working). Vaca is trying hard, but the word is out, and opposing players are playing physical against him. The only positives I've seen thus far is that Kreis is still deadly, Suarez is still playing with heart, and EJ is getting better each match. Yeah, I said it. EJ is playing offensive, intense, TEAM minded soccer out there people. He's THIS close to 3 goals on the year, he's tracking back on defense, pressuring defenders, making long run after long run. I like him now. You should, too. Fact is, no ONE person is to blame. But I have a feeling that we'll turn it around. I know it sucks, but it is (cliche alert) early in the campaign, so don't give up hope.
Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] You obviously can shoot harder. Davis' shots were decent enough. Granted they didn't go in, but to call them pansy shots is plain dumb. The first 20 minutes of the second half was the best soccer we've played all season...and the build up to Kries' goal was textbook. I do believe its time for a shake up. Start some younger guys who have nothing to lose, especially defensively and let the starters know thier play must improve. Something needs to change quickly. We are the team doing the least with the talent we have.
Re: Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] are you insane? with the space he had, he could have come up with way better shots than those straight to the goalie ones. Start more youth? they're the ones causing us trouble! Bencke was lost, Davis, well we've already covered him. Who else, oh yes EJ, our supposed "prodigy", a lot of people said he played well last night, but I disagree. Sure he wasn't getting that good of service but he could have done better for his talent. But what am I going on about? All around terrible play from the team, Broome was the only one busting his ass and getting something done, unlucky to hit the post.
This is the saddest part of all. The team is just looks defeated before they even blow the opening whistle. Check out the warmups at the next home game. The other team will be running around, getting pumped, getting fired up. Dallas will be moping around lifelessly, no desire, no intensity, just beaten down by the depression of this joke we call a home field. Of course Jeffries is helpless anytime motivation or leadership are concerned, so we're completely rudderless. Our MO for this season seems pretty clear. We come out and give up a goal or two in the first 15 or 20 minutes because we're just jacking around and not ready to play. The other team then gets kind of bored when they realize that Dallas is so hopeless that the game is already over. They start to fall asleep a little bit since there is no real competition, and Dallas scores a miracle goal of some sort. That wakes them up a little bit and they start to play again. It only takes them about 10-15 minutes before they bang in another goal and they then just maintain enough discipline to close out the game. One last thing. Rhine showed me once and for all why he belongs firmly planted on the bench. Kansas City did everything in their power to gift us the game by dropping a ball directly to Rhine's foot with an open net in front of him and what does he do? He takes time to settle the ball and dribble back and forth a few times so that the keeper can get back in position and stop his shot.
Re: Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] Actually, he was onside. I TiVoed MLS Wrap and watched that goal over and over again in slo-mo. At the time the ball was kicked, Klein was either even with the last defender or he was maybe a few inches offside. Either way, it was a good goal.
Did you watch a different game than I did? From what I could tell (and since the Burn were attacking towards GA in the first half, I could really tell), this was EJ's worst game of the season. He had reverted back to the "I'm the man at the U-17 level" Eddie. He was slow getting back on defense, he was giving up on balls that were just a couple of yards ahead of him, and he was giving a lot of crap to his teammates. Granted, I could tell he was frustrated with what was going on behind him, but I didn't really object too much when he got yanked at the half. Mind you, Rhine, for all his hustle, didn't show me any results, so I think Eddie should be back in the starting lineup next week.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Burn-KC POST game thread [R] Tell you what. You go play a professional soccer game and tell me just how much space and time you have to get off a shot and score. Its a hell of a lot simpler than it sounds, and faulting Davis for shooting is like I stated earlier, dumb. A shot can create rebounds which can lead to goals. And Davis is one of our most lethal shooters. Behncke isn't a defensive midfielder. He looked lost because that was his first game there. He didnt have a strong game, but he wasnt the reason we lost. Hmmm the youth is the ones causing us trouble? Steve Morrow (last night)? Broome and Morrow (LA)? Those guys are veterans. They can and should play better than they have.
The problems are definitely with the defense. Every single player we've put on the backline has made horrible gaffes that have led directly to goals and put the team in tough spots. It's shocking that this defense can be playing this badly so far this season. We have to be the league's worst defense at this point in the season. Davis, Behnke, EJ? These guys are the least of our worries.
