Our hatred is typically reserved for the Fire, so I don't get these DC types; in this thread:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=34906

    they describe the Burn as:

"Maybe if they get Nunez and he clicks with Kreis (which Graziani didn't do) they'll be serious contenders. But until then they are a lot of nice names who aren't collectively good enough. (See C-bus)."

What the hell are they smoking? How can they be so critical of everyone else and then be so abjectly blind when it comes to their team?

I see the Crew roster as being very strong all over, and, probably stronger if McBride doesn't come back and Buddle gets to play more.

ANY team, that has to put Buddle on the bench, because they are too loaded up top, is doing pretty well at the forward spot.

Just have to get our defense in order ;)

DC has this cognitive dissonance problem. They won some games a few years back, with a great coach and a GM who wasn't afraid to bend the rules to get what that coach wanted.

Those days are long gone. Those players, that coach and that GM are long gone.

In 2000 they were 8-18-6. In 2001 they went 8-16-2. In 2002 they were 9-14-5, last in the league with a miserable 32 points.

You have to go all the way back to 1999 to find a DC team that isn't an embarassing joke.

What's more, as Jeff Bradley observed, and most other guys either have or will concur, on paper DC is once again probably the worst team in the league.

The Crew and Dallas, conversely, are uniformly rated as among the four best.

And the Crew, after falling just short of the MLS Championship game, went on to win the US Open Cup.

DC is nowhere. Their fans are frustrated clowns living in the past, dusting off a bunch of old tin and fantasizing about Bruce Arena.

Ignore them, their idiot coach who celebrated with a recovering alchoholic by taking him out drinking, their collection of old foreign drunks and hacks and their delusional fans. They just don't matter to anybody anymore.

On the plus side, FC Cowbell" is a classic. I will blatently rip it off and give you no credit whatever.

I needed an occasional alternative to "The Filth"

    Thanks.

But, unfortunately, that remark has been true in the past. On paper Columbus has had some good names but hasn't grabbed an MLS Cup, finals appearance or conference/division title.

That being said, FC Cowbell (or is it Coffee Pot FC?) fans seem to have problems with short-term memory. It's like a group Memento.

i agree, year in and year out DC fans insist that they will return to the "glory days". Same with NY fans, except that they say this year will "be the beginning of the glory days". Moronic fans. its just nice to see fans like clb, ne, dallas, and col (just to name a few) dont rant and rave about rulin the league for years while their teams have the worst roster in the league.

Now that the Fire appear to be entering "DC reality denial", perhaps we can focus on DC for simple comic relief and the MeToads for their truly obnoxious behavior.

The Metoads have never done anything but bleat about how the special allocations were really all due to them. They play in a stadium that really doesn't want them and gouges them to play on the worst surface in the league.

Miami at least had a decent pitch run by a poor organization. The Metoads even had to change their Logo to try a revitalization and "fresh start" from their dismal past. How about moving this embarassing, money looooooosing sinkhole to Charleston where they have an organization and stadium.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that around somewhere. I didn't come up with that. Blatantly rip to your heart's content.

I was just amazed at their attitude. If made poll asking "Which team does this describe?", with just the lines:

"....they are a lot of nice names who aren't collectively good enough."

And had all ten teams to pick as choices, I bet at least 90% of the votes would be for DC United.

That's after New York City, Rochester and probably Philadelphia get a team, courtesy of the Monkey's Heed.

So says the disciple of Paul Gardner. So you are the guy that keeps reading and idolizing him?

Frankly, reorganizations of the letters of Metro are about as fresh and funny as calling you Cowlumbus.

DC fans are bar none, the biggest freaking nerds in MLS. That in and of itself is an accomplishment of Vulcan proportions.

    Nanoo, nanoo.

You keep making my point. Thanks!
No, Bill; this guy is not a plant.

Metoads are their own worst enemies. It's almost too easy. Their arrogance shrouded by a subtle screen of megacity aloofness make them simple self destructive targets. The Metoad fans are a deep cut below the scum, IMO. However, they are simple targets and therefore less worthy of true disgust.

This is where I would normally add a witty comment about you having to edit your post after I responded. Or I would just comment on the use of all those 10 cent words to make you seem like a pseudo intellectual- but I just don't have the time.

This is about the losers that are DC Fans- not the loser that is Raoul.

No, that is the only witty item Paul Gardner has ever come up with......and it's STILL funny.

    One other thing Eric...

    ...troll somewhere else. Thanks.

    Too perfect -

If you had a witty retort, it would be a welcome, stunning surprise.

Nor the intelligence. Vocabulary is more a function of education than intellect. If I could write more simply and get my point through - I'd be a better writer. See Haiku 101 or the English courses on effective writing.

When you really have nothing to say...don't.

Thanks for making my point again, e.

Why not take your trendy little e and toodle on back to coolville. Find someone you can impress with your millimeter deep patina of sophistication. I'd suggest starting in the middle school age range. They're deep into style over substance, too.
