We all read Steve Davis' added time articles on a weekly basis. What I propose is a Burn Extra once week on the back page of the sports section. This would be a full page (really only about 2/3 a page with the advertising on the bottom) dedicated to the Burn. This of course would only be done during the season. It could consist of notes from training, player updates, game previews etc.

They do this for the Mavs, Stars, Rangers, and even the Roughriders. Lets all e-mail Steve Davis and relay this idea. GE said we need to demand more coverage well maybe this is a first step.

Here is Steve Davis e-mail address. We all know if it were up to him there would be much more soccer coverage. Maybe he can pass this on to his boss.

    TA,
The Roughriders coverage only comes with the Collin County edition of the DMN. I don't think the regular Dallas version has the back page Roughriders feature. I have a feeling that once the team moves to Frisco, they will get their own back page feature once a week, but again, only for the Collin County version. But its a good idea anyway, to let the DMN know how much we appreciate the soccer coverage we do get and that we want more. Its important that we stress how much we like the current coverage and how good a job Steve Davis is doing, I think.

Well in that case I guess I can turn into POOH BEAR if it would result in more or better coverage of our beloved BURN.

Maybe we should send the DaMN editors a case of High Life.

Let's try the Honey first. Pending the results. Then we might discuss the Champagne of Beers!

Thats a pretty steep price to pay.

    Just kidding.

If we sent them High Life that would probably end soccer coverage all together.

i am not unhappy with the soccer coverage, while it could be better, in the dmn considering we are in cowboy country, but a weekly back page extra is a great idea

    probably at a bar
What drives me nuts is Gerry Fraley (sp?) he always puts in little anti-soccer comments into his articles even if talking about something totally different. Like last week he was writing about NBA and said something like "Short of soccer, nothing is more boring than the first round of NBA playoffs" And he said that the Southlake high school football team should do better this year because "their field won't be tainted by soccer lines, which is a bad karma" He does this so much that it makes me think that there is something deeper going on than just not liking the sport. Maybe his grandchild was kicked off a local team or something.

I saw that jab about "short of soccer...bla bla bla" it was unnecesary and not particularly funny.....and I usually laugh at critical references of the game I love. He's just a tool...plain and simple. There will always be tools and there is nothing you can do about it. In my opinion, the more stupid, infantile and generally pointless references he makes about soccer the more he looks like a complete fool.

I have a theory on Fraley's anti-soccer comments. When Davis had his page 2 column, he would always add soccer tidbits into the mix. Now that Fraley has the Tuesday page 2 column, he puts in anti-soccer tidbits to wind up Davis who is probably his buddy.

I'm a fellow P1. Soccer is not a sport that they(the ticket) have embraced in the past. Have your tried?

Again, call the ticket and request to talk soccer/burn soccer w/ Dan in mid-days. He's the only one that will talk soccer. Need to keep the bozo he works with quiet as he has nothing positive to offer.

If we all call them, maybe they will buckle and add a segment...coach call in...player interviews...etc.

Um, I might be wrong, but isn't that backwards, Spacoli? Bob is the soccer fan. He's even done some Burn TV stuff I think.

It would be nice if they'd just replace the Bob Knight show with a Colin Clarke show, wouldn't it? Fiery guys that will make most of us cringe at least once in our lives. :D

Bob is the lone soccer fan at the little sport ticket. He took a weekend trip to London a few months back to take in a game at Highbury. He also did some TV work for the Burn last year. I thought he did a very good job. Why isnt he the PA announcer at the bowl?

Hmmm, I wonder if there are enough P1's on this board to cause the little Ticket to at least consider adding a Burn segment if we all sent in an e-mail requesting it. It wouldn't hurt. Anyone know Bob Sturm's e-mail address?

Bob is the biggest soccer fan at the Ticket, but Cobra and Kevin Scott are both soccer friendly. A couple of weekends ago while driving to the game I heard a short clip from Colin Clarke on a Ticker about the game. Does he have a segment on Ticket Sports Saturday night as Jefferies used to have? If not, getting one might be a good start.
