Back when United was for sale, Ted was asked several times if he was interested in buying/investing in them. He replied that it was interesting, but his hands were full since he had just bought the Caps.

I'd guess that once the Caps stablize, and ol'Abe Pollin dies, and Ted buys the Wiz and MCI Center, that he might think about expanding......but that'd be more than a few years down the road.

Many of us emailed Ted and he replied he didn't like MLS single entity. Jonathan Ledecky was interested at some point, but he sold his share of the Caps. Last I heard, he was trashing some woman he was dating on DC 101 with Eliot.

Sorry but Ted has said under Single Entity, that there is no way he would evern buy into MLS. If he could control the team, then he might consider it.

I think part of the ownership issue will be resolved when the baseball thing gets resolved. Even if baseball comes to DC, some of the guys being talked about as potential owners will be out in the cold. And there are limited numbers of sports franchises around. If someone was smart (and being rich doesn't automatically mean you're smart), they'd realize that MLS single entity doesn't mean the league has to own the stadium. A Ledecky or Snyder or Collins or whomever, could build a SSS and rent it out to an MLS team, hold concerts in it, whatever. If they owned an MLS team, it would be as a tenant. That's not what we like to think of but that is kind of how AEG is approaching this--that's their business model.
