Apparently the ankle is only dislocated, not broken. Anyone have any insight on what that means for the recovery process?

I've been asking this question for weeks! The last we heard he was in the homeland and was going to be checked by Fire docs and we never heard anything else.

Peter, can you clearify this one for us? Please.

This has to be much, much better news though. (then again, I know nothing about sports injuries)
Hopefully he will be able to get back soon!

everything you want to know on dislocations.

some dislocations can be worse than breaks though. jason kendall of the pirates had a dislocation that totally blew out his ankle and his recovery time was quite a while i believe

So. If he was properly diagnosed and pins were set he should be about ready to get the pins out (The first I heard of the injury was around Jan. 7, not sure when the actual match was). Then there would be another 6-8 weeks or so.

He still may have also broken a leg though. The orignal report mentioned a broken leg and a dislocated ankle. Not a broken ankle. The info on this all is very sketchy. I hope somebody steps up and clears it all up.

a broken leg with a dislocated ankle is a serious injury and can require a lot of time off of the leg. if you're right about that jjyag we might not see him for a while. if his leg was broken he can't really do any rehab on the ankle until the leg heals and that could take a while. and the longer you stay off a joint after keeping it immoble the weaker and more prone to repeat injury it is.

    This is curious

    from a Reuters report:

GABORONE, March 11 (Reuters) - Botswana will be without their American-based striker Dipsy Selolwane when they play against Namibia in Sunday's Cosafa Castle Cup first round tie in Windhoek, officials said on Tuesday.

Selolwane, from the Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire, is in pre-season training and unavailable for the match in the annual southern African championship.

    The plot thickens!

  8. The names of the Botswana clubs . . . Defence Force XI, Meat Commission & Prisons XI . . . ? No wonder Dipsy wants to play here.

    From yesterdays Fire insider:
    RECOVERY ROOM
Selolwane, Dipsy-left ankle dislocation-in training rehab
    Sounds like he is improving

If Dipsy ONLY has an ankle dislocation (which is still serious) that may be enough to get Woly cut. Or at least only offered a short-term contract while Razov is out.
