All summer long I've had a feeling that the clubs decision to point on Burdisso is wrong and misplaced. I think it's not much a coincidence that Burdisso's standout season came under Ranieri. I think people remember those performances and perhaps forget that Ranieri is not one for playing football and is teams are hardly ever as uncovered as Zeman's team. I believe there is a strong possibility that we will see the Burdisso of old. With plenty of rash tackles, cards, and sending offs. Am I crazy here? Ultimately I had hope the market would give us two new starters with Burdisso on the bench and one youngster as an intern. Instead it seems like we got one new starter paired with Burdisso and two interns.
I really wanted to click your crazy but I cant. Burdisso is a great defender in a defensive spolier team. He should move to Stoke in England
Last year he was our best defender before his injury and we didn't concede many goals in the games he was playing. 10 goals in 10 games and 5 of those were against Lazio and Milan.
He had 1 good season them held us for ransom when we wanted to sign him. That always left a sour taste in my mouth
Burdisso has always been a first class professional for us and played with great determination and application. He does have his limitations but as a person I can't fault him, he rejected plenty of other moves to come to Roma and made it clear to Inter that we would only move to Roma after his loan spell which forced their hand into rejecting a lower price than other clubs were willing to pay.
I think the owners are being lazy in hoping Burdisso will play like he did in his first season under Ranieri, if Burdisso flops this season we have no plan B..fact of the matter is Burdisso should have BEEN the plan B in case the new CB failed, I like Burdisso but i always feel that a cock-up is always just around the corner, he's good but not the type of player you want to put all your hopes on.
When your offering the most, it means elsewhere it is less. I doubt any of them saw more than 1 game that season if any.
I prefer having some players with the hot head mentality. I like players that have some passion. We used to have a Totti, DDR, Mexes, Perro all with short fuses. It's not ideal to have that many playing at the same time, but a few players on the team with some passion is always a good thing in my opinion.
I love Burdisso but I think your right, Burdisso in a defensively set up team is a good defender to have but with this system he just isn't the right player. I like @Forza_Totti's comments, the thing I like about Burdisso so much is his passion, a player playing with so much determination I think gets fans going and encourages their teammates sometimes.
