After playing great for the preseason and first 4 regular season games, Jose is again gone for the season. He tore his right ACL, having just come back from tearing his left ACL.
I hate to say this because he's shown so much promise, but I don't think Jose is ever going to pan out. Three years on the roster and less than 10 games. Its not that he doesnt have promise, but you can hardly afford to risk a roster spot for a guy who is so injury prone. I hope I'm wrong, because he really does seem like he's got the potential to be great.

I was wondering if there is anything that would predispose someone to an ACL injury (genetics or physical build) or is it just poor conditioning, stretching .....? Two ACL's in two competitive years is no coincidence.

The first thing I thought when I saw the injury at the game as "ACL", and unfortunately that's the case. It's bad when you've watched enough MLS to predict an ACL tear as it happens. Does it happen so much in other leagues around the world?

    This is terrible news.

Bright prospect who has been improving every game since pre-season.

What does it mean for our back three? Simplest solution is to move Diego back so you have Conrad-Garcia-Diego.

In osme ways this might relieve some of the pressure off Nick. He has been coaching and guiding Burciaga along, he shouldn't have to do that with Diego.

Now Quill or Armstong start on the left instead of Diego.

With Talley banged up too we are getting thin and into Brunt territory. Ouch.

My sympathy and best of luck in the future, Jose, whatever you do. It's going to be a long summer, but there's a lot of time for you after that.

When it happened, I turned to Katie and Britt and said, "well, that's the end of his carreer." Poor fella, I just don't see how he can make it as a professional soccer player now after two ACL tears.

I coach girls high school basketball and you see it all the time with girls. Once one acl is torn, you can almost predict a second tare on the other leg.

This sucks for Jose, who knows if or when he will come back from this one.

So who gets more time now, Quill, Armsrong, Zags....???

You have to feel for the guy. So many major injuries, and to such a promising prospect too.

Mathis has recovered and played... Well, whatever.

Good luck to Jose. I know it won't be easy.

He needs to see if he can hook up with the trainer that Chris Armas used. They(ACLs) can be overcome, but he's going to have to work his ass off.

Orthopedic specialists will tell you that the surgically repaired knee is stronger than the non-repaired one and that you have a better chance of tearing the non-repaired one....

If anyone knows him or how to get in contact with him, let him know that the best way to go is to try and find a cadaver ligament. This minimizes trauma to the knee.....patellar donor weakens the knee somewhat, and the hamstring one weakens the hamstring.....he'll be seriously rehabbing in 1-2 months with a cadaver ligament and probably starting to jog.

I've had both a patella donor(they take out 1/3 of your patella ligament and use it as the new ligament) and the hamstring donor. My friend had the cadaver donor, and he was walking without crutches in less than a week, and with less pain...

From what I hear of Jose, professional soccer is his only choice. Supposedly he didn't have the grades to get a scholly....

    I wish him the best...

I know you were probably half serious, but jose's case is different, methinks.

I know it's been done before, (that is, coming back after two acl tears) but in mathis' case, and the others I can think of off the top of my head, they were already standout players who were heads above the rest. Jose is, well, still a p40 player. I thought he looked promising, but not a great player yet, and now I'm not sure he'll ever get that chance, now. He'll have lost a lot of time, and his first two seasons.

There's got to be a good soccer joke in there somewhere. It brings to mind the movie "Young Frankenstein".

Well the thing that sucks most about Jose's injury is the fact that he was starting and he's a P-40. Gansler would have to find another P-40 to replace him or cut someone from the roster if he got another defender.

If Bob is smart, he'd trade Dallas for Phil Sayler. He's a left back that could play now and he's under developmental contract. Not sure what Dallas would want for Sayler, but they got him for next to nothing.

    1. We've been playing with a 17 man roster, we've got a spot available.

    2. We're in the process of signing Zotinca, a young defender who has been playing for the Comets.

Is he a left back? That's the question. You gonna play with Garcia or Conrad on the left????

Take a look at our pregame thread. We've got all sorts of options. Carey Talley can drop back (if healthy) and we've also got Deigo Gutierrez who dropped back last week when Jose went out. I believe if you look in the thread about our exhibition last night Zonitca played in the back, but I'm not sure where.
