A new thread to inform one another about matches and BL shows coming on US TV. Should also cover changes in channels, broadcast rights, etc. Starting with the first week of this Bundesliga season, according to the GolTV website, between Friday and Sunday, GolTV will show a total of five Bundesliga matches. All of them live. They are (all times Eastern): Friday Borussia Dortmund v Werder Bremen (2:30 PM) Saturday SpVgg Greuther Fürth v FC Bayern München (9:30 AM) Eintracht Frankfurt v Bayer Leverkusen (12:30 PM) VfB Stuttgart v VfL Wolfsburg (2:45 PM) Sunday Hannover 96 v FC Scheisse 04 (11:30 AM)
Rep for this glorious news!!!! With the monopoly of BeINsport, I can no longer see any Series A or La Liga matches. At least they will still carry one of my favorite leagues. Plus its nice you can watch it whenever Our stupid cable providers don't carry FSC, GOLTV, or BeINsport unless you subscribe to dish (which I've had before and hate because it never works)
Anyone have the Dish Network Germany package? Heard they cut the bundesliga coverage substantially to play 40 year old movies this season. Now they have almost no BL 2 coverage. For BL 1 they play the Konferenz and 2ish matches live. Then play an additional 3 matches on tape delay Thursday.
I went to the Dish site the other day to check out the possibility of getting a bare-bones package and MySportsGermany "a la carte." Didn't even see it. Saw the full Germany package, but no MySportsGermany. I worry about the future of BL viewing in the USA.......
I was kind of hoping that someone would pick up the rights and stream all these games online to paid subscribers. Outside the EPL, Champions League, US national team, MLS, and "South of the Border" stuff, there just isn't a huge TV market for soccer. Perhaps beIN will pick up the rights, but their weekends look jam packed as is. I would think they'll need 3-4 channels just to show all the content they've purchased. Streaming (something like the Fox Soccer online service) seems like the only viable option
Agree on beIN. They're already full. I thought the BL was screwed with GolTV before. However, with GolTV losing La Liga and their fighting to stay relevant, I think they may give the BL a bump up.
It is my understanding that Gol has Bundesliga rights for the next 3 seasons. Considering their empty schedule these days, this is a great situation for us fans. There is no other sports channel that could give us a TRIPLE HEADER on Saturday the way Gol can. Of course, there IS a downside...namely horrible picture and commentary quality. There is no channel on my cable system (Comcast) with a worse picture...not even close.
Agree. I have GolTV HD, but the picture there isn't always that great. And the commentators suck. I'm sure a few of us can do far better. I only hope GolTV doesn't sub-contract the best matches each weekend to ESPN for them to show on ESPN 3 and ESPN Deportes as I don't get either one at the moment. I can get Deportes, but not ESPN 3. BTW, I think a live Saturday triple-header is only going to happen this weekend. There will not be 8:45 CET matches on other weekends. At least there isn't next weekend.
Correct. This is a special match moved from Sunday so Stuttgart can have two full days rest before playing in Moscow on Tuesday.
Um, I am sure not seeing any Bundesliga on the upcoming schedule for ESPN online (whatever they are calling the service this week). Gol, on the other hand, has the Friday match and both Sunday matches.
Same here ^^^ Shitty goltv better not have rights to all games since not many people have or can get goltv. Plus the commentators suck, they're an embarrassment to the league
DirecTV has been sending e-mails to some of their customers alerting them that GolTV will no longer be available on DirecTV as of September 13th. How many here are DirecTV subscribers? I am one. I'm wondering if the best course of action is to overload DirecTV with e-mails demanding the return of GolTV or trying to contact someone at the DFL to alert them that their matches will no longer be carried by the nation's largest satellite provider?
I just read something to the effect that ESPN is phasing out simulcasts of TV events online. This would seem to indicate that since German football is on ESPN Desportes, it may no longer be featured online. Can anyone confirm or deny?
All might not be lost. The email talks about GolTV being removed from the Sports Pack on Sept 13th. Some conjecture on the web that it will become available on the Spanish Package on that date. I am trying to dig for information. FYI, 5 more BL games this weekend live.
I wrote to DirecTV earlier. They seem to believe that GolTV isn't needed because the Spanish League is available on beInSport now. I let them know that there are others who watch GolTV for the Bundesliga and let them know I would switch to cable if they won't give me GolTV.
The response I got from DirecTV. It will still be available, but you will now need to pay $14.99 per month as part of the En Espanol package. Thank you for writing. I understand how you feel that GolTV will no longer be part of the DIRECTV SPORTS PACK. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. DIRECTV still wants our customers to get the most out of their programming and get the most international soccer games from North America, South America, and Europe. All of the Spanish league games (BBVA La Liga) that are broadcast previously on GolTV are now on the beIN SPORT channel(Ch. 426 - Spanish / Ch. 620 - English). However, the GolTV channel is still available with DIRECTV's En Espanol package. En Espanol is an add-on package that covers 47 channels for $14.99 monthly. If you want to add this on your account, please call us at 1-800-531-5000 between 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM daily. Rest assured that our specialists have all been well trained to ensure resolution on our customer's first contact. I hope you find this information helpful. Sincerely,
I would demand the "En Espanol" pack for free. If you whine long enough, they'll cave. I'm an expert at negotiating with these folks.
Or get GolTV a la carte. But what is ironic for me is I was planning to get the "En Espanol" pack in place of Fox Soccer Channel anyhow when I return from my trip to Germany in October.
So are the Bundesliga matches a no-go for WatchEspn? I don't see them listed at all. I don't have any cable/satellite or anything, I just started following the league last year via WatchEspn. It was great! I hope it's not gone already. Heartbreaking. Is there any way to stream the league online? I wouldn't mind subscribing to something for the season, I'm just not willing to pony up for cable/satellite for it.
