Ribery losing a lot of 1v1 dribbles against Donati. Maybe he needs to be a super sub to take advantage of tired legs in defense. He doesn't have the pace of Costa.

    And now Mainz score.

Bernat and Vidal are playing well.

Benatia's build-up play leaves a lot to be desired to say the least.

Why Coman in the middle? Is he gonna speed rush through the center

Strange positioning. Vidal and Thiago both playing like box to box mids. Its like we don't have a 6.

I'm confused. Why is Vidal so far forward and Tiago playing just infront the Alaba and Benatia?

They seem to be switching, but both are too far forward. I think it's because we have an overload on the right with Coman, Rafinha and Robben all occupying the wing leaving a huge hole in the center. Vidal keeps rushing forward into that space everytime the ball crosses into the Mainz half. Personally I'd drop Ribery or move him to the middle to fix the balance.

This disjointed offense seems to be a problem every time we play more than 2 wingers. None of them want to move into the center so we end up with too many players on the wings. I understand why we are doing it in the "easier" matches (fitness, keep everyone happy, etc.), but it's frustrating to watch.

The three winger combo has never really worked for us. Robben seems to be the most fit of the three so I would rest him and try balance the squad a bit in the 2nd half.

    - By setup I think Robben plays in the center but he went to the wings mostly, while Ribery and Coman are not winning 1-1

    - Benatia is strong in defense but his distribution is poor, that's where I appreciate Kimmich in the absence of Boateng.

    - Due to lack of build up from defense, the role of a regista a la Alonso is missed. Vidal and Thiago are too high up.

    - Probably Muller or maybe Gotze need to come in to fix the lack of centre overload.

All that said, if we were more clinical we wouldn't even have had to complaint ^^
