Serge Gnabry will be sidelined for 4 to a maximum of 6 weeks, depending on how the fracture and surgical wounds will heal. Gnabry will undergo surgery today. He will certainly miss Germany's first games under Julian Nagelsmann against the USA and Mexico [@BILD] pic.twitter.com/sieIn1800U— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) September 27, 2023
What do you mean by "only due to injury proneness"? Do you mean that if he wasn't injury prone, we could already write him off? His age doesn't matter at all? You've often mentioned that it is too early to write off 20 year olds and that a lot of players even emerge after the U21 Euro so when they are around 23 and 24 years old. Therefore Gio still has 3 years to mature and develop as a player. He's been a good super sub. 7 goals and 2 assists in 22 BL games last season. Whether he wants to be a starter or not, he was still contributing. Isn't that what matters? Not being good enough to be a starter at a big club at the age of 20 is not the end of the world. Not everyone can be an early bloomer like Sancho, Mbappe, Haaland, etc. I think it's his effort and attitude towards defending that's problematic rather than his speed. Also, stamina is an important factor with regards to tracking back. His acceleration is good. His top speed isn't great obviously. He may well be the best USA player of all time but the bar is incredibly low so that doesn't say much. If he stays fit, he's probably going to become their best goalscorer of all time surpassing Dempsey and Donovan. When non-delusional American fans say he's the greatest American player, I don't think they mean he's a world class player. He's maybe slightly above average if we compare him to players from the top leagues. A lot of good players have flopped at Chelsea in recent years so perhaps we shouldn't judge him too harshly. He contributed to their CL win but overall he was poor and inconsistent especially in the PL. He's off to a decent start at Milan. it's too early to say how he will fare there but Milan and Pioli have been good at developing players in the last couple of years. At club level, he has already had more success than Dempsey and Donovan. Which outfield American player has had a better club career than him? From what I've seen online, fans agree that Gio Reyna is more naturally gifted than Pulisic. Pulibench likes to dribble with his head down and doesn't release the ball on time while Gio has much better passing ability, touch and vision. However, just because he is more gifted, it doesn't mean he will have the better career. It's a small football nation. They're trying to improve their Academies( they're collaborating with the French Federation and copying their training methods) but in the meantime they poach because they want to be successful at all costs. They're obviously not in the same league as France, England, Argentina, Germany, Spain, etc and won't be for a long time.
bro bit too much posting on an irrelevant country with irrelevant players who make 0 difference in 1BL. and yes 1BL clubs want to push USA players regardless of quality due to untapped USA market and due to them selling well after they dev enough even if mediocre players.
its good to see Union Berlin crashing. Union is typical 2BL club goes up to 1BL, focus only on German/domestic but after 2-3 years, goes frick Germans, lets rely on foreign then they start to flop. all of their success was due to Germans which they don't focus on starting this season too.
On that first Leipzig goal, fans are of course right to blame Kim and Upamecano but what about Kimmich? Why was he in no man’s land? If he’s the 6, shouldn’t he be closer to the ball from a throw-in? Rodri and Casemiro wouldn’t be letting that through ball.
Plus 3 assists as well as 1 goal and 1 assist in the CL. I read that fans are pleasantly surprised by his playmaking abilities.
his playmaking skills are nothing new but $100M....... if he doesn't win 1BL top scorer (he's already spiking his #s with PKs, same shit for Pengland and Spurs, he scores too many PKs+tap ins) or if Bayern doesn't win CL=bad 1st season. I personally am not high on Kane tbh. I know he's viewed as world class but meh, I've seen tons of better CFs in 90s, 00s, 10s over him. I do look forward to him retiring as Pengland is struggling to dev CFs, LMAO.
Union Berlin lost both of their Champions League games at 90+4'. 40 seconds to go against Real Madrid and 20 against Braga. They played well in both matches and deserved at least a point.
A big part of Tottenham’s dramatic turnaround seems to be thanks to their new coach who has been successful everywhere he’s been. Richarlison even started some of their games and was useless up front but they still got good results. If they still had Kane in the team, I think they would have done well too.
Another unconvincing victory by Bayern. Slow, imprecise, players standing around waiting for something to happen. Tuchel is getting a lot of flack once again. A lot of fans calling for his dismissal. Simone Inzaghi has turned out to be a great tactician. I think Bayern should go for him if things don’t work out with Tuchel.
I am not watching the Leipzig match. According to LiveScore, Pep is using Rico Lewis in midfield and Leipzig are still losing wtf.
Leao is so impressive with his powerful runs. Pulisic is given a chance to prove himself against his former club. Will he get back at them?Btw, are we surprised that Pulisic is starting ahead of Chukwueze this season? Shouldn’t he be a substitute? There is plenty of time for that to happen of course. Nothing is permanent.
Wow what a miss by Chukwueze. He should be shooting first time there. There is no time to take a touch. Theo and Leao with beautiful combination play and runs in the build up to that opportunity. Theo also missed a huge chance. Our boy Karim fell asleep a bit at the back post and let Theo head the ball.
Our boy Felix Nmecha had a pretty decent chance to score from the edge of the box with no one around him. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be.
It was ok from Dortmund, especially first half, with a bit of luck could have won but looked a bit iffy towards the end so I guess a point was fair. Generally it’s been pretty uninspiring to watch for most of this season, I feel like scoring goals is gonna be a problem particularly in big matches.
Which match(es) are you going to watch tonight? Freiburg vs West Ham, Marseille vs Brighton, Villarreal vs Rennes and Palmeiras vs Boca (semifinal) sound interesting.
Watching Freiburg v West Ham right now. 1-0 West Ham already. Paqueta downward header, not great defending plus Atubolu can maybe do better?
