I'm not too sure he was loaned to 2BL HSV last season where he bombed massively.

of course not saying he can't retry but not a good 1st try.

-flop sturmer, can't even make it in Championship. When Leipzig got him, got overhyped to the moon.

-LOL Miranda had a 2 year loan, cutting it short after 1 season. And he was rated as one of the best 00s in Europe. Another failed Spaniard.

so why do all of these Frenchies come to Germany when they can just play Ligue 1?

this guy plays 39 Ligue 1 matches and then jumps to 1BL, like lol 39 games in Ligue 1 is equivalent to 1 full season.....I see too many 1BL clubs who seem to pounce so quickly to buy Frenchies. Seems like Mainz who have small budget payed like $5.5M for him......

and he completely bombed at Mainz, lol. With him in XI they had 1 win, 1 draw and 6 losses. Losses included 6-1, 8-0 and 4-0 trashing.

was also made irrelevant by R.Baku a CM playing RB and doing better than him and both are same age....

He played 83 games for Leipzig U17-U19.

recent trend in Germany is basically, if foreign young player can make 1st team they stay but if their contract is running out and they won't make the 1st team they legit just leave and go to another country. Seems like a lot of them have 0 interest in playing in lower levels in Germany and would rather play foreign 1st division.

Wish more German players weren't this obsessed with making it in Germany.

which in retrospect is a waste since they could have just used that game time and focus on domestic players. He played almost 6000 min and then ends up going to Portugal, lol.

also left because Borkowski is better and even got 1st team chances too and Nagelsmann seems to rate him too. So Holm was never going to make it at Leipzig.

interesting seeing 2 Dortmund fans discussing on twitter how cynical the club has become when talking about Bellingham coming.

that it's basically about selling him in 2-3 years and that's it. That the club has no interest in real success and only looking at short term and short term profits. And you always have to replace players who leave after a few years.

also that if you really want to focus on winning trophies should focus on German players who in overall don't leave Germany.

They have a lot of interesting players coming up and you would think a club like Dortmund would attract even more German talents but they don't........I also said it past, Dortmund was at it's best when majority/core of the team was German. Even CL final in 2013 was mostly German squad.

Okay, I need to comment on this. Dortmund is not the only German club with majority German players on the past. This applied to all bundesliga clubs, all major European countries. The reason is quite obvious, globalization.

Does Serie A clubs now having local Italian players more than in the past? How bout La Liga? i don't have the data, but I'm quite sure the number of foreigners are much more compared to decades ago.

the game is more and more globolized, not a huge fan of this, nothing but $$$ based.Although it's easier to go to 1BL less restrictions, foreign player wise we are comparable to Serie A. 1BL might have less foreign than Serie A but they have 2 extra teams.

globolization is one reason more and more players are forced to go down in lower levels and chances are decreasing when you can just buy/loan in.

although corona seems to be hitting clubs financial hard. So there could be less transfers so many clubs talking about like $30M max for Summer. Others are like we can't afford players more than $1-3M tops.

if they can keep the 5 sub rule ongoing could be helpful too.

On one hand I like the 5 sub rule because in theory it gives more chances to young players, but in terms of the spectacle so many changes affects the flow of the game somewhat. Much like happens in friendlies.

but with no fans in the stadium the games are basically almost friendly like.

@feyenoordsoccerfan posted at how there has never been as many home losses in 1BL since closed doors.

I would take young players getting chances over spectacle.

seriously Dortmund's obsession with foreign players isn't doing that well.....

Olympique is aiming for a loan plus purchase option
Dortmund's Balerdi in sight of Marseille

Leonardo Balerdi of Borussia Dortmund has been targeted by Olympique Marseille, according to the French sports newspaper L'Equipe. The defensive player could hardly recommend himself at BVB in one and a half years.

    Dortmund's Leonardo Balerdi
The 21-year-old Argentinian switched from the traditional Argentine club Boca Juniors to BVB for a transfer fee of 15.5 million euros in winter 2019. In his premier season, he made four appearances for the Borussia regional league team and made two appearances in Lucien Favre's professional squad.

In the season just ended, Balerdi also benefited from the new substitution rule after the Corona compulsory break, so that he made six short appearances with the BVB professionals. He made his debut in the starting XI on the last day of the season - of all things, in the 0: 4 debacle against TSG Hoffenheim, he defended in the triple chain alongside Mats Hummels, but this game was also catastrophic for him - kicker note 6.

In short: Balerdi has had far too little practice in Dortmund so far, his sporting perspective with the runner-up should not be too rosy - despite a valid contract until June 30, 2023.

This is where Marseille comes in, because the French first division team is interested in the Argentine international. According to information from L'Equipe, Olympique is aiming for a rental business with an option to buy.

I think one of Dortmund's biggest mistake is too many foreign young CBs who aren't doing well at higher level.....like if they are promising it doesn't mean anything, if you want foreign CBs than buy more experienced ones.....

not the only one, so they are willing to sell him....some places seems to think it's likely he's getting sold, he has a 2021 contract at Dortmund.....

Sergio Gomez: The 19-year-old Spaniard is still considered to be a top talent, especially since he is one of the second team in the second Spanish league at his rental station SD Huesca. As of now, Gomez will return to BVB as soon as the league in Spain has ended. The U-17 and U-19 European champions are not a decisive cost factor. Gomez therefore does not have the economic pressure to find a quick solution. With a corresponding offer, however, he may leave the club.

this guy is one I never got why he went to Dortmund besides thinking he'll breakthrough the 1st team and play CL early. If he can breakthrough Spain why not do so???

Yes that is true. Watching BL and now EPL etc matches I have found many games to be pretty stale with zero atmosphere. Home advantage seems to mean much less without fans.

Hopefully at least some fans can be allowed in next season, maybe 30-40% initially?

Better for young players to get experience with big crowds etc imo, atm playing in the first team has the same atmosphere as playing youth leagues.

I believe that 1BL clubs are trying to figure out way to get like a % of seats/capacity filled next season. They need some revenue from fans in stadium.

as for youngsters, some think no fans in stadium means less stressful for debutants. Then again entire Dortmund foreign youngsters all bombed in last game of the season, 0 mentality and too casual.

Zakaria and Neuhaus are 2 players who made Cuisance irrelevant at Gladbach. So Gladbach is on low end in terms of purchases.

Some of these clubs and their bad transfers.

and Wolf came in 2019 too......Nagelsmann trashed his mentality as he wanted to quit the team after half a season due to lack of chances. Of course Gladbach is interested since both Rose and Wolf know each other.

Leipzig bend over backwards like a bunch of saps and unprofessional behavior just to land this Brit who's been completely useless player. Should just have trusted and given his mins to Academy players instead. Instead everyone thinks every Brit is Sancho 2.0, LOL.

The hype surrounding Leonardo Balerdi is absolutely unjustified
Leonardo Balerdi will leave BVB after only one and a half years. At least if you can believe various media reports. Many BVB fans don't like this - but why this hype about the young Argentinian?

According to corresponding media reports, Balerdi will turn his back on BVB again this summer. The 21-year-old is reportedly drawn to Ligue 1 at Olympique Marseille - initially on loan, later the French are even said to have a purchase option.

And it is exactly this purchase option that annoys many Dortmund fans. If you go through the social networks, you will see many BVB supporters who cannot understand that the black and yellow are willing to let Balerdi go permanently. A loan would be okay to collect game practice - but permanently? That is a big mistake, according to the tenor on Twitter and Facebook.

At this point I ask myself: why? Where does this hype come from for the 21-year-old Argentine, who has only been able to run 128 minutes in the Bundesliga so far? None, really none of us can estimate the youngster's true potential - so why is it assumed that he is a real gem?

    Balerdi hasn't shown anything yet
In his Argentine homeland, he was only allowed to play five professional games for his ex-club Boca Juniors - which probably not one of the experts on social media has seen in this country. Even his short appearances for the BVB professionals now gave no inkling that the next Mats Hummels, Sergio Ramos or Giorgio Chiellini was slumbering in him.

Now one might argue: yes, but he doesn't get any chances !!!

Right. But then ask yourself why. That he can't even make it past a partially indisposed Manuel Akanji. Certainly not because Lucien Favre has something against him or does not rely on young players. Rather the opposite is the case: he has shaped a Jadon Sancho into world class, a Giovanni Reyna is more and more able to prove himself in the Bundesliga under the Swiss and a Dan-Axel Zagadou was (if fit) absolutely set.

Favre apparently sees less in Balerdi than the fans
Maybe Favre in Balerdi simply does not see what many BVB fans see in him on social media - or at least would like to see. One can accuse Favre of many things (keywords: missing titles, missing emotions, lack of greed), but it certainly cannot be said that he does not make footballers better and does not promote certain talents. There - and we should agree - there are hardly any better coaches than the 62-year-old.

One should say goodbye to the assumption that every talent that BVB commits is an upcoming Ballon d'Or winner. Transfers like those of Jadon Sancho, Ousmane Dembélé, Raphael Guerreiro, Christian Pulisic or - further back - Shinji Kagawa and Henrikh Mkhitaryan undoubtedly deserve high praise because they came to Dortmund from nowhere and developed into superstars. On the other hand, supposed top talents like Mikel Merino, Alex Isak, Emre Mor or Sergio Gomez were also committed, who tore little to nothing.

It may be clear that Balerdi will still take off at some point - perhaps already in Marseille - and belied me here. According to the current status, however, there is more evidence that the 16 million euros that Dortmund once invested in him were not well invested money. That's okay, after all, no club or sports director in the world has a 100 percent hit rate. But then you should shut down the hype and trust those responsible in their current assessment.

to be fair Isak is doing well in La Liga but was never given a chance for whatever reason.

also answer because too many fans seem to fangirl over every player they have in their clubs even when unjustified.

lol buying him for $15.5M and reports state the buying option could be $12M basically $3.5M loss. But corona crisis could make it acceptable....

sometimes wonder why so many German clubs seem obsessed with players based on not much. Paying that much money for 5 games in Argentina?

Dortmund's logic we need a CB....proceeds to look for young CBs with barely any experience....they do that a lot too. We need attackers, all of their rumored interests are very young attackers.....

Also seems like Argentina NT coach wanted him to leave to get playing time for 2022 WC chances. So even more reason to be glad he's leaving, dev players for rival countries, pass.

    CL draw

    QF -
    Bayern/Chelsea v Barca/Napoli

    Leipzig v Atletico

    SF -
    Bayern/Chelsea/Barca/Napoli v Man City/Real/Juve/Lyon

    Leipzig/Atletico v PSG/Atalanta.

Tough draw for Bayern, gonna probably need to beat Barca and one of Man City or Juve to make the final.

Leipzig in the slightly easier half, although Atletico are always tough. If they beat Atleti they have a decent chance to make the final imo.

The final will be at the stadium of one of Leipzig, Atleti, PSG or Atalanta

with no Werner and new transfers not allowed to be used, Leipzig will struggle. Barcelona haven't been playing that well recently but they are still Barca. But Bayern could still end up with Napoli who drew Barca 1-1 in leg 1.

    it's been decided, 2020-2021 season.
1BL-2BL-3rd Liga come back September 18
DFL Super Cup is September 30

uh, usually Super Cup is 1st.

seems like it, Winter Pause seems to be like 9-10 days only.....

The Presidium of the German Football Association (DFB) has adopted a new general calendar for the 2020/21 season. The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will start the upcoming season on Friday, September 18, 2020. After the 13th matchday of both leagues (December 18-21, 2020) and the subsequent second round of the DFB Cup (December 22/23, 2020), game play will be paused and will resume on the first weekend in January. The 34th matchday of the Bundesliga is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2021. The last match day of the 2nd Bundesliga takes place one day later.

This arrangement of the general schedule especially follows the model with regard to the start of the season, the shortened winter break and the number of three "English weeks", which was mostly approved by the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga clubs under the given conditions. The DFL had recently obtained a corresponding opinion of the clubs based on various variants of the general schedule for the coming season.

May 1, 2021 falls on a Saturday, according to the wishes of the security authorities, the weekend in question will remain free of full league match days. According to the current status, the two semi-finals of the DFB Cup are scheduled for the first weekend in May, but these two dates are still subject to the last pending coordination talks. In the event of a postponement, the 30th matchday of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga (Tuesday, April 20 to Thursday, April 22) would be affected and would also have to be postponed.

A new framework calendar had become necessary because the game operations of the current 2019/20 season lasted longer than originally planned due to the corona-related interim suspension. When planning for the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga, numerous aspects had to be taken into account, in addition to the dates of the DFB Cup, and above all the other rounds of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League from the current 2019/20 season, which will be held in August , as well as the encounters of both competitions in the coming season. Other relevant factors include FIFA internationals, as well as the one-year postponement of the UEFA European Championship, which will take place on June 11, 2021.

On the basis of the now approved general calendar, the DFL will create the schedule for the 2020/21 season of the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga in the coming weeks.
    https://www.dfl.de/de/aktuelles/neu...iga-und-2-bundesliga-starten-am-18-september/

such much congestion in schedule makes you wonder if there will be a lot more use for young players in all teams.

is there even a Winter market? Seems like any transfers in=no friendly or Camps.

essentially they want to end 2020-2021 season around same time we usually end May 20 something.
