Bundesliga 2025/26 - Is there a league after Lohmann?

Lisa Baum signs for Arsenal lol... and for a record 600k...



Baum now #2 on the list of Arsenal's most expensive signings, but I fear if she doesn't start to perform instantly, she could easily end up like the #4 on this list.

#4 on this list being Kafaji; she'd join Arsenal as an exciting teenage talent, who was thriving on the UWCL stage. But Kafaji quickly found herself surplus to requirements at Arsenal, before eventually being loaned to another WSL club where her form still unimpressive.

And looking at all the older/more experienced wide options Arsenal have, as much as I believe Baum better than all of Arsenal's current wingers/wide forwards, she'll have to instantly find a way to perform, all they will just casually throw her aside.

Foord, Smith, Kafaji, Kelly, Mead, while I've heard Cerci was signed as a wide forward option too lol. Either Arsenal's recruitment strategies are bad, or all these women underperformed spectacularly lol.

Because using league form... if Baum only replicates what she did for Leipzig last season in goals and assists, she would literally be Arsenal's most effective wide forward without any debate.

Arsenal having Russo, Blackstenius, Agyemang, has me question where Cerci will find playing time as a forward. But a teenage Baum signing for a club with 4 senior wnt wingers ahead of her is honestly crazy.

For all my complaints about Germany's inability to score goals, it's crazy seeing how many wnt forwards are about to be playing abroad all at the same time.

Hoffmann being the only senior level wnt striker left in the league (Weidauer not good enough, Birkholz not ready, Fudalla not valued), means she has a free lane to convince the wnt coaches to reintroduce her to the wnt...

But then I look at the wide forwards, and realise Bühl, Zicai, Bender, Schimmer, and potentially Mahmoud, will have every opportunity to showcase why 2026/27 1.Bundesliga may still have the best German attackers...

Oberdorf, Alara, Mühlhaus, Piljic, Lattwein, Gräwe, Wrede, Zdebel, means there will be a surprisingly strong level of domestic CM/AM talent in the league for the new season too.

I would argue Germany's FB depth is the strongest in the current player pool, yet Gwinn, Wamser, Kett, Linder, with future wnt prospects Mattner or Gonzalez, are still all in 1.Bundesliga for this new season.

Plus after it seemed inevitable that Landenberger was going to join a WSL club, her transfer to Wolfsburg now means Wück will have 4 wnt CB options (Küver, Kleinherne, Minge, Landenberger) all playing for the same club again lol...

 

I just saw Frankfurt had a pre season game, and realised they were the club who actually recruited Mühlhaus, not Wolfsburg...

So... the rumours about Peddamors leaving Wolfsburg next summer, means Wolfsburg will need to find themselves another high potential AM very soon...

Anyway, Frankfurt's pre season team featured many changes, but still revealed their potential starting formation and 11 to be....

Squad depth here is a complete unknown to me, but after so many missed opportunities over past seasons to showcase his team can compete Vs the elite, it's also crazy to see Arnautis still persist with the exact same diamond system.

However I will say this now... if Mühlhaus does start the season within the teams CAM/false #9 role, it will allow Freigang to go back to being a striker, to potentially see Frankfurt's attack improve.

Freigang as a CAM/False #9, struggles to generate chances for herself and others. Mühlhaus not only very comfortable providing progressive passes from mid-field, she opposite to Freigang in that she very good at generating shots for herself and others.

Blomqvist more comfortable with her role, Freigang back in her best role, and Mühlhaus improving creativity... Frankfurt might still have enough fire power to keep rivals like Hoffenheim, and Leverkusen, away from 3rd place.

Anyomi can really prosper with this lineup. Will probably have to produce if she wants to be an starter. Germans are known for their unselfish style of play, But in this day & age, you got to be a little selfish to score goals. Koessler already lost her starting job over in Denver
