3 more years for Bayern to dominate with ZERO competition. Wolfsburg's display basically summarizes their season overall.

If Wolfsburg get the first VAR PK decision in their favor, they make this a real contest for 90 mins. However, they concede a VAR awarded PK, and they just crumble, completely deviod of ideas.

 

FT: 4-0 Bayern. This sure to be Popp's last Cup final appearance, ends with a highly underwhelming lopsided defeat.

Bayern didn't really have to fight very hard for this, the game feeling significantly more comfortable than last seasons game Vs Werder Bremen...

Bayern's next test is to construct a UWCL final level team, as they will face no sign of domestic level competition for the next 3 years.

Wolfsburg are now about to enter a post Popp and Kellermann era, where Lerch should honestly be replaced, and at least one serious international quality forward signed, if they have hopes of maintaining their 2nd place position from rivals.

I honestly have no idea who would be player of the match... Bayern not needing to do anything significantly impressive to win the day lol.

 

If Wolfsburg has any positive hope for the future, they have to move away from Lerch, and hire a new coach independent from the decisions of Kellermann.

In a season of underwhelming displays, the Cup Final defeat to Bayern for me the most concerning performance Lerch has given.

would compete better over 90mins than a Wolsfburg side with a starting 11 packed with UWCL, and strong senior wnt level talents...

I've never seen Lerch as a elite level coach, openly stating his past success with Wolfsburg highly unimpressive on a tactical level.

But with Hoffenheim, and now Wolfsburg, Lerch has demonstrated how much other coaches in this league are now superior to what he provides.

Seriously... beyond individual talent, the gap between both teams in tactical identity was a litrally chasm; something I never even thought about while watching a significantly weaker Werder Bremen side face Bayern in last seasons Cup Final.

Just saw highlights of WOB/HAM, Popp so far with a brace, quite attractive goals too—and takes that Toni Storm/AEW grandstand, bow after thr2nd goal. They’re playing this at Wolfsburg main stadium. Wonder if their doing this just for Popp?
