Disappointed not to see Bender or Ostermeier start this game for Leverkusen. But this will be a good test for Zdebel - Piljic as CM's playing at the heart of a 4-4-2 Vs Bayern's 4-2-3-1. Still no Bühl for Bayern, with Harder also starting from the bench, it also suggests the Euro's might negatively effect Bayern and Wolfsburg early season... Oh... and it should be interesting to see where Oberdorf is deployed when she's introduced for her latest league debut with her latest team.
Hmmmm.... if Leverkusen replace Grant with Haim or even Gonzalez, they'd actually give themselves a level of counter attacking potential that could make this game very interesting... Tanikawa is too quiet for Bayern too, Zdebel - Piljic far too comfortable in an away game Vs last seasons champions. Bayern are trying to use traditional width with Damnjanovic and Dallmann also looking very rigid/stiff... everything is just overall slow Vs a Leverkusen side we all saw very capable of being annoyingly disciplined last season. Wamser isn't going to have any issue shutting down Damnjanovic, with a junior wnt Mickenhagen being equally comfortable down the left side dealing with Dallmann. This is a game Bayern need more from the central areas.
a total of three shots(none on target) taken by Bayern in the 1st half. Wamser been owning Damnjanovic on her right side. Can’t believe that Buhl’s not starting in such an prestigious event
Bayern should have brought at least 1 true winger/wide forward to their team in the offseason.... this squad appearing to still be overloaded with CM and CAM's... Tactically Straus-ball's lack of conventional width was frustrating to watch, but opening day of the new season, this new coach doesn't appear to posses the tools to play the more traditional approach I'm seeing so far Vs Leverkusen. Simon has barely crossed the halfway line, with Kett's natural attacking instincts seeing her move into the wide spaces vacated by Dallmann. Barcala said he wanted to introduce a better offensive element to Bayern... but again... I'm not seeing the current tools to make it happen the way he wants right now...
Fudalla always appears so useless in teams that require effective transition....Leverkusen need to get her off so they can compete 11 vs 11 lol. Bühl has brought some life to Bayern's offense, but I'm also incredibly disappointed with Tanikawa's efforts. Maybe Fudalla can randomly put the ball in the goal and we can pretend she's been effective... but I feel like Leverkusen are playing with a clear handicap offensively.
Fudalla almost produced the only thing she ever does effectively, and the shot comes back to an even more underwhelming Grant who scores, but the goal is disallowed due to a minor handball...

Bayern really bringing the same garbage into the UWCL....General play ass, set pieces they turn into the Hulk... 1-0 Bayern, but this is just the same garbage we've seen for the past 3 years lol
2-0 Bayern now... there should be some major questions about the summer's recruitment... I've said for many years Bühl also needs to be a 10-15 goal wide forward, so maybe her scoring on the opening match day can start the better final form version of herself becoming a normal thing...?
Hmmm.... and Oberdorf replaces Stanway lol. If she's joined Bayern to compete for the exact same position as Stanway, even more questions should be asked of Bayern's recruitment policy... This Bayern squad is just CM's, CAM's, and zero balance lol.
Frankfurt - Essen 5:0(3:0) Anyomi(24), Reuteler(35,69), Ilestedt(45+1), Chiba(81p) Köln - Leipzig 0:2(0:1) Schimmer(14), Starke(63) Bayern - Leverkusen 2:0(0:0) Gilles(76), Bühl(77)
Hmmmm.... I didn't understand why Boboy would leave Leverkusen, but seeing her contributions to RB Leipzig's opening day success, I might see the 18yo's vision here.. Often appearing unplayable in her 1v1 duels with Degen, it was Boboy's off ball movement that would lead to Köln's CB receiving her 2nd yellow card denying Boboy a clear path to goal as the last defender. So... Boboy might be a name to pay attention to this season, as a full season healthy being Leipzig's new main forward, could eventually see the teenager scoring a few goals given her effectiveness in direct transition. ============================ Looking at other names who could become more relevant over the course of the season, with Solano starting for Athletic Club today in their complete beatdown Vs Barca, seeing so many German wnt defenders out with injury... Landenberger might be a new option for senior wnt recognition... Solano playing for a mid-table Athletic Club was able to come into the wnt and display performances on the international stage at a far higher quality than Knaak. And seeing Landenberger, I'm also convinced she's one of a few names from lower ranked teams who could also provide better quality than Knaak on the international stage.
Nutty-shiko fans are blessed again as Stuttgart’s lil fwd scores her fourth goal! Apparently all of Stuttrat's games are streamed, this one currently at halftime
LOL... Lerch instantly takes Wolfsburg back to a 4-4-2.... But starting Huth in CM should probably tell everyone of their biggest positional issue this season. Zicai also making her debut for Wolfsburg, it will be interesting to see how Wolfsburg look during the season opener, after appearing so weak last season in the season opener Vs a then newly promoted Bremen. Wolfsburg should be using Kielland in the absence of Lattwein, but I feel like today will likely be defined by Wolfsburg's ability to effectively attack, as this clearly isn't a team created to be defensively stable lol.

A prime Popp was never allowed to start up front with Pajor... but now Popp is starting up front with Beerensteyn... Knowing how Zicai likes to cut inside and cross, I feel like she should eventually establish a good relationship with Popp. But Beerensteyn and Popp as a front two....
Beerensteyn makes it 0-1 Wolfsburg. Assist coming from Peddemors.... makes you wonder how much better this team could look if they used 2 CM's... EDIT and now a GK error sees Beerensteyn fouled inside the pk box, with Minge making it 0-2. The GK only receives a yellow card too
1-2 now... Hamburg scores from what I feel was a GK error; Johannes allowing a very saveable shot to rebound back into play for a very easy unmissable finish... It appears Johannes is still disappointing at various elements of her game, but with Tufekovic on the bench, she won't be #1 for long if she continues repeating her Frankfurt form...
LOL... Huth is a TERRIBLE CM.... If Lerch thinks he can get away with using her in CM vs stronger opposition, his teams defence will be left completely exposed. Popp and Beerensteyn not combining once over the opening 40 mins is another obvious issue. I don't see why Popp just doesn't move into a AM role, and just let Zicai - Beerensteyn - Endemann be a front 3...?
1-2 Wolfsburg leads at HT. Wolfsburg playing with one CM... and that CM being more box to box than a DM presence, allows this game to be far more competitive than it really should be. Even it means utilising Popp as a DM, with Peddemors - Huth ahead of her as CM's, I think Wolfsburg's performance would significantly improve if Lerch adjusted towards a 4-3-3 in the second half. Hamburg not bunkering also a positive for this game being relatively entertaining too. But I still think beyond today we're witnessing Hamburg being one of the bottom 3 clubs this season...
