DFB-Pokal Wolfsburg - Frankfurt 1:0(1:0) Huth(35) Essen - Bremen 1:0(1:0) Touon(43) Hamburger SV- Bayern 0:3(0:1) Imade(6), Kett(66), Padilla-Bidas(88) Jena - Sand 4:1(1:1) Reuter(19), Alcaide(68,81,89) - Takizawa(40)
Imade seems to be an ‘star in the making’ as she got two goals for the Spanish NT over the weekend. Odd thing is I’ve never heard of her before & she’s already 25 years old. Was she originally from Spain?
She has Nigerian parents but lived in Spain since she was three months old. She has a Spanish passport since last year.
BVB have the right coach in place for 1Bundesliga success, and they've just signed Kellermann as their new Sporting Director (until 2029)... so when does Popp annouce she's joining lol... I'm still convinced BVB will want to be one of the key members of the proposed break away league.., but if they plan on continuing the ethical promotion charade, does it take 2 more years for them to join the nations top division...? This time table for promotion important, as Kellermann joining feels like a rather high profile name to waste two years convincing talent to join a lower league team with a long term project... Yes... BVB will almost certainly attract domestic the top talent, which should make for some interesting decisions for various players over the next few years. But if BVB are the club to eventually become Bayern's main competition, Kellermann's ability to identify strong foriegn talent could be a genuine key towards streamlining this club ability to compete at the top within an even quicker rate of time.
Werder Bremen's inability to score means we're about to see another Wolfsburg Vs Bayern Cup Final... and I'm honestly not interested in seeing Bayern face Wolfsburg in another Cup Final...
Whoever Wolfsburg's next director of football is... I think they're being left a potentially good core to maintain a competitive side. The main issue here is just Lerch being Kellermann's choice; as Kellermann blatantly had no long term vision for his own future remaining at the heart the club.. Replace Lerch, and continue building the squad depth. Wolfsburg could be another legit CM, another forward on Cerci, or Anyomi's level, away from having an improved version of what they've been over the past few years.
looks like Lohmann colored her jet black & got double eye lid surgery, maybe it’s to get more playing time at Man City?
Rio Takizawa... WOW... Genuinely GREAT long distance goal, but overall Jena's 1.Bundesliga quality made them too much to overcome. I've said for a while now how Essen have looked like a better team than their current league standing suggests. And I guess Bremen were the team to see what that truly means. For the chance of a semi final upset... maybe Essen's style would have been better suited to facing Wolfsburg; Wolfsburg already being embarrassed by Essen during league play. Bayern's style will see them cruise past Essen, while Wolfsburg with all their faults should have more than enough quality to force their way beyond Jena. But again... Werder Bremen have been such a huge disappointment over the 2nd half of the season, they potentially missed a perfect opportunity to accomplish back to back final appearances...
Alexandra Popp will leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
It was obvious Popp would be one of the important names leaving Wolfsburg at the end of the season... but why no announcement of her intention to join BVB...
Oh, WOW.... Mühlhaus just reminded everyone why she's the expert FK taker in this league lol... HT: 2-2
⚠️ Ein echter Top-Transfer für die BVB-Frauen: Alexandra Popp wechselt zur Saison 2026/27 ablösefrei vom VfL Wolfsburg zu Borussia Dortmund. 😍➡️ https://t.co/mZDblPD58w pic.twitter.com/Uk9KWxVgRi— Borussia Dortmund (@BVB) March 14, 2026
Yeah... if anybody still wants to try and justify Freigang's uncontested squad role on the wnt, they should watch how much better Mühlhaus would appear to be today... Mühlhaus just obtained a fully deserved 10 rating on Sofascore..; being the main player at the heart of everything positive her team Vs Frankfurt. Yes... Mühlhaus still needs to improve her ability to score goals within open play, but obtaining a 10 rating simply through free kicks, and general creativity, speaks to the offensive potential Mühlhaus possess. Not exactly like Magull, as Magull can play DM/CM/CAM on an elite level, Mühlhaus still might be the closest thing to a Magull we're going to see for a while. Both Mühlhaus, and Alara, should be the long term future of the AM positions on the wnt. But with Alara lost within Bayern's squad, and now injured, it's given Mühlhaus a perfect opportunity to establish herself as the nations best AM.
Losing to Essen... but beating Frankfurt by scoring 4 goals after initially being 0-2 down lol... Werder Bremen haven't been showing 3rd place level form after the winter break, but with Peterman coming on late to make a impact, with suspended players also returning, maybe they have enough quality to maintain a push for UWCL football...? Leverkusen to me looking like their a squad who's another season away from really contesting 3rd place, it would make Hoffenheim the most likely team to really challange Frankfurt. But honestly... Frankfurt have been embarrassing in the league this season. Clearly at the end of a squad cycle, if they do end in 3rd place, they'll still a lot of squad changes to make before having any possibility of actually reaching the UWCL league stage. Riesen, Lührßen, Senß, Reuteler, Anyomi, and maybe more... all leaving at the end of the season. Maybe it would be better for the league if a talented but raw Leverkusen side reaches the UWCL qualification stage a full season ahead of schedule...
Popp finally announcing her move to BVB. I wonder if her 3 year contract took longer to create due to the uncertainty around the break away league, and the reality she'd be one of the best players in Europe, playing in the 2nd division of German women's football... BVB signing a UWCL quality forward, who could still easily be scoring goals for the wnt too lol. I know Popp loves BVB, but she has to be getting good money for this if it includes her spending a whole season in the 2nd tier of domestic football.
LOL... has Schimmer finally come to life.... She's becoming increasingly consistant cutting in from the left and unleashing powerful shots from distance. Basic passes, crossing, and general decision making while dribbling, all continue to be a major issue for Schimmer. But she's becoming a real goal threat when she's able to cut inside and shoot at goal.
I'm not planning on paying much attention to the US league, but I have a very strong feeling that after years of being unfairly ignored by the wnt coaches, moving to the NWSL will finally become the moment Kössler regularly selected for the wnt. The analytics department selecting players based on physical attributes as much as technical skill. If Kössler has a few good performances in the US league, the dummies running the analytics department will view this higher than anything Kössler's shown them in the 1.Bundesliga...
Freiburg - Nürnberg 2:1(1:0) Ojukwu(44,82p) - Miller(83) Bremen - Frankfurt 4:2(2:2) Mühlhaus(44,45+2), Alber(52), Desic(90) - Anyomi(23), Blomqvist(26) Leipzig - Union Berlin 2:2(2:1) Baum(18), Schimmer(44) - Weidauer(2), Steuerwald(49)
Kössler just scored the first ever NWSL goal for her new club lol. Not a regular wnt selection, statistically when you actually combine goals and assists, Kössler has been the 3rd or 2nd best domestic forward over the past 2 seasons. A better creator and scorer than Hoffmann, and Martinez, Kössler also a more competent wide forward than Cerci too. So it would be crazy if Kössler shines in the US, and still ignored by the wnt coahces...
Marie Steiner is a interesting attacking player that I'd like to see start more games for the u23's wnt. Scoring today Vs Essen, Steiner is being deployed within a central AM role, even though she's naturally a striker/wide forward. And seeing how effective she was in this same central AM role for the u23's when she entered the game as a late sub Vs Belguim, it's interesting seeing her remian just as effective while scoring this games opening goal.
