Zicai being so high on the successful dribbles list, while not actually being any better than Sternad, or Lein, for dribbling the ball into the oppositions penalty box, tells a real story here lol... Plus Bayern are going to need to change the way they play (this might be good news for their future UWCL hopes..) once Stanway leaves. Bayern have the games elite generator of chances in attack, and mid-field, yet continue to struggle scoring goals in the UWCL. If Bühl, and Stanway, both leave at the end of the season, without spending serious money, there's litrally zero chance of replacing what they currently provide. But again... this might not be a huge problem if it see's Bayern fully brake away from Straus-ball, and implement a more transition focused style of play which the top teams will still use to dominate UWCL football.
A side note due to the name in this thread; Man City just signed USWNT regular starter, Sam Coffey. She plays the similar defensive mid position of Sydney Lohmann so the question is; if Lohmann could only get an total of 121 minutes in league play in the first half the season, how much less the time she’ll get in the season’s 2nd half???
Why am I seeing rumours surrounding Bayern potentially being one of the various clubs interested in recruiting Riesen on a free transfer from Frankfurt... We've already seen Bayern on numerous occasions actively seek to replace Gwinn...; so is this their answer for keeping Gwinn around, but providing the club with another back up RB...? Plus it appears Lohmann's run of injuries has Man City completely uninterested in waiting to see if she can return to her past peak form. Man City making various high profile CM acquisitions, Lohmann's time in England could actually end up with her being in a worse situation than the one she had at Bayern...
I have no idea who this is, and what her signing means for the future of the clubs post Stanway recruitment push.... but Bayern have signed a 28-year-old Ivorian international CM called Bernadette Amani... Recieving a contract ending 2029, she'll join from Spanish side Tenerife, and following Imade almost instantly replacing Schüller, Amani is announced mere days after Stanway announced her intentions to leave. So... do Bayern look to sign more established names, or is this the clubs strategy to replace what they'll be losing in the summer...?
Wamser leaving Frankfurt to gain opportunities to be a winger, and still find herself shining in a FB role with Leverkusen, is legit hallarious... In Bender and Wamser, Frankfurt have basically allowed 2 future senior German wnt players to leave for a rival Leverkusen, with Wamser already looking like a starter quality wnt level player. And now their ready to see Riesen leave with the hope a raw u23 wnt player like D.Acikgöz can take over...? Letting Kromp join Bremen, potentially Anyomi, Senß, Reuteler, Riesen, all leaving, Frankfurt should honestly look to restart their project with a new coach now. From mid table obscurity, they closed the gap to the top 2 impressively, but blatantly have hit a major wall with Arnautis... A new coach, new ideas, leading a new young core might be their best hope now. Chiba, Gräwe, Acikgöz twins, Veit, and Winkler, strong but probably not enough one their own to restart the project as a young core. If Frankfurt don't react, the way things are headed, they could easily be replaced by a host of clubs assembling a roster of international talent of their own...
Denver seems to be well financed & just recently bought Mexican League all star defender Ayo Oke & of course the biggest prize, Lindsey Heaps Kossler main problem is that history suggests that she is injury prone & playing in an league where the pace is going to be a lot faster & the opponent’s are way more balanced—-so in the words of 2025 Euro leading goal scorer, Esther, “It’s like playing Barca every match”. German players have their own unique ability & style; often considered the most team working players in soccer. Unfortunately you got to balance this with some selfishness if you want to be a top goal scorer. This seems to a major problem for some of the others playing in foreign leagues—Brand, Nusken. Lohmann to name a few, and their stats suffer as a result. let’s hope Kossler breaks that mold!
Andrée Jeglertz says Mary Fowler is ‘not that far away’ from a return, with Sydney Lohmann also progressing well in her recovery. “Sydney has been on the pitch a couple days now and is in a good place. “She wants to be back as soon as possible. She’s been modified and not in team training but hopefully next week. “We’ll see how she responds today and tomorrow.”
.... pic.twitter.com/k1Mm4cy8KD— mia ⭐️ (@letissiearps) January 18, 2026 Bühl and Lohmann watching their friend play in the English FA Cup sounds normal. Only issue I have here, is knowing Man City were also playing in the FA Cup this weekend lol. Soooo.... Lohmann is just going to show up to Man Utd games on a regular basis now..., or is this a one time thing...?
English fans who know women's football beyond the WSL, seem to believe Bühl being spotted at Old Trafford this weekend means a more northern part of Europe will be her next destination lol... But reports online are suggesting Man Utd looking to recruit Landenberger at the end of the season. Which probably means this is almost 95% certain to happen.... Landenberger one of many u23 prospects I expect to see in the senior wnt one day. It's definitely interesting she's the CB who's attracted attention from foreign clubs. I'd also say I'm not convinced this move would be great for her right now, knowing she'd also have to displace two senior level internationals to gain access to match time at Man Utd. Diehm, S.Ostemeier, Veit, Stegemann, Axtman, have all been starting ahead of Landenberger at u23 level, but I can 100% understand why clubs outside of Germany would see her potential. But again... if it's a move just to sit on Man Utd's bench, Landenberger would be better served staying at Leipzig to develop her game a little more. Beyond financial incentives, there's litrally no upside to Landenberger leaving Leipzig right now to sit on the bench of Man Utd.
Bayern will play in CL quarterfinal against winner of Atletico vs Manchester United. So Schüller is likely not the only reason to watch this match.
... Man Utd's women beat their lower league opponents Burnley 5-0 with Schüller scoring her first goal for her new club. But I think we can all understand why Bühl and Lohmann both attending this match, has absolutely nothing to do with football, and instead 100% purely about friendship. Bühl's social media supposedly posting photos of her being in Old Trafford for the Manchester Darby (sat in the home stands). I still think it's hallarious seeing Bühl's apperence in Manchester ignite speculation about her joining a WSL club lol.
Friendly Match... Alber, and Petermann scoring is a real positive sign for Bremen's 2nd half of the season...
idk man just shoot... she's thinking too much https://t.co/wM3Eg0eLx9 pic.twitter.com/v1lCNlBT5s— krish (@krishisstressed) January 18, 2026 Jule...
Whenever I check opinions from Lyon fans, all I see is them repeating almost exactly all my complaints I've held with Brand's inability to do the simple things first... Wolfsburg's leadership tried to guide her... but failed. And it appears she's still not realizing her full potential with Lyon... It sounds wierd... but the only time Brand appears to be truly effective is playing for the wnt; and this only when she's playing on the right wing too. I know Brand is still young... but it's becoming slightly concerning seeing her remain so unreceptive to coaching at the elite level of club football...
Nüsken might be one of the most positionless players I've ever witnessed lol... Chelsea recruited Nüsken after a great final season playing as a DM for Frankfurt, yet have used her in every role but this one once she arrived in England... So what is Nüsken's true positional identity if she measured Vs Europe's top DM and AM's...? Nüsken's final season with a weaker Frankfurt, actual comparing better with Guijarro's best season playing DM with a strong Barca. When I look at data next to a AM like Caldentey, Nüsken's performance doesn't really compare. Nüsken as a DM pivot/deep lying play maker, produces defensive data comparible to pre injury Guijarro; why is this factor of her games continuously ignored...? It's obvious how much Nüsken's game crumbles whenever tasked with significant responsibilities dictating play, and this with her shooting being highly inconsistent too. Her first season with Chelsea, Nüsken compared to an elite AM like Caldentey looks legit underwhelming. Only goals scored seeing these two players on any similar level. The one true common theme of Nüsken's game though, is seeing the amount of touchs she has significantly decline the closer she is to the opponents goal. You either have a player who's most effective sitting in front of CB's, selectively dribbling her way out of pressure, using few short passes because she's far more effective using long balls to set forwards free. Or you have a AM who doesn't touch the ball alot, never seeking to control/dictate tempo, but makes great late runs into/around the opponents penalty box, to find herself shots or key passing chances. I'm convinced she's been incorrectly profiled at Chelsea, and her entire wnt career... Nüsken's best attributes are a DM Pivot who makes interceptions, not dictating play with short passing, but using dynamic short dribbles to evade pressure, prefering long passes with both feet to get the ball to forwards.
FC Bayern played Gotham FC Jan 16 in Andalucia, Spain in what must have been a closed-door friendly, or training match. Just saw photos but no mention of score. Bayern had just arrived from Germany for a quick spell in the warmth of southern Spain while Gotham has been there since the beginning of January in preparation for the Jan 28 FIFA Champions Cup game against Corinthians. Looked at Bayern site but couldn't find any details except new transfer Edna Imade scored for Bayern. Smart move though by Gotham to play Bayern, the team that beat Arsenal, who Gotham may get a crack at if they reach the finals.
