Interesting decision from HSV's coach to change formation to a 4-2-3-1 Vs Bayern. You'd think this is the one game their coach actively wants to try and compete in a mid-field battle.. 3 Vs 3 in mid-field, Bayern always going to dominate play. But after using a 3-5-2 for most of the season, HSV have also offered absolutely nothing offensively Vs Bayern... HSV aren't close to making this remotely competitive... and this after spending most of the season being an offensively positive team... Seriously...I said HSV needed a tactical plan B to face Bayern, but as someone who typically dislikes the 3-5-2, HSV's coach really made a terrible mistake changing to 4-2-3-1 to face Bayern in their league match. 3-0 Bayern lead at HT, and it's basically an attack Vs defence training drill.
Whatever HSV's coach thought she was doing, it failed miserably lol... Honestly... a tactical performance so bad, it felt like HSV were intentionally hiding the real tactical plan for their Cup match Vs the same opponent... Leaving Eggert on the bench, and using Wrede as a left winger, only starting with 1 forward, and two CB's...; this is literally removing all their best elements... but, why? Oh... and why did Schüller's celebration feel like she's mentally no longer invested...? Has the legacy of Straus-ball era finally broken her lol. From leagues top scorer talking about producing a goal a game, to being left on the bench for a foward who struggles to hit 8 goals a season... not the way it should be for someone with her qualities...
Werder are currently with a 7 point lead over last seasons 3rd place Frankfurt... Within a horrible wnt program, Friederike Kromp takes her u17's to a European Championship victory, and is only a heel away from a u17 WC final... And now in her first season with the club, building on a 7th place finish with their prior coach, she could be about to take Werder Bremen to the UWCL qualification stage... All the nonsense Neid does to push through former players as coaches, and the best one we've seen come through during the last decade happens NOT be a former top player, and holds a UEFA pro license lol...
Jena just went away from home to beat an in form Köln.... All season the teams at the bottom of this league have proven to be a significant step up in quality from what we've seen in the past. However... I also believe we're seeing the teams at the summit of the league fail to demonstrate the level of strength we've witnessed in previous seasons... Bayern 100% winning the league with ease this season... but if the new break away league does start, I think we could see the long term established order change once again if the right clubs as promised agressively invest into their women's team...
Mühlhaus has one of the strangest scoring records I've ever seen in this league lol. Playing for a team who's middle of the pack in generating shots, and not possessing the most effective wingers, Mühlhaus has scored 7 PK's to lead the leagues scorers with 9 goals lol. And what's even more confusing, is knowing Mühlhaus gets the most shots during open play for a Bremen, making her shooting efficiency... suspect...
Kielland and Lattwein should be Wolfsburg's starting mid-fielders. And I don't understand why Lerch can only use Endemann on the right if Huth isn't playing... Kleinherne also made her club debut for Wolfsburg with her late substitute appearance. Kleinherne now the 4th CB at Wolfsburg with claims of being a starter for their wnt. So I really don't understand how Wolfsburg can spend so much time looking so bad most of the season lol. Lerch making poor team selections almost like he's overloaded with options...; just looking at midfield, Peddamors - Kielland - Lattwein is blatantly the best CM trio at Wolfsburg, but Minge continues to be forced into the team... So I don't know how Minge suddenly became captain of both the wnt, and Wolfsburg. But for the wnt and Wolfsburg, she's really not a starter if everyone healthy...
Bayern - Hamburger SV 6:0(3:0) Gwinn(16), Stanway(27p), Bühl(45+3), Schulz(47og), Harder(63), Schüller(85) Köln - Jena 0:1(0:1) Jaron(45p) Leipzig - Hoffenheim 2:3(0:1) Asgeirsdottir(56), Chmielinski(64) - Ampoorter(25), Gloning(63), Cerci(80) 2.Bundesliga Stuttgart - Sand 2:0(1:0) Beuschlein(11), Billa(22) Andernach - Mönchengladbach 5:1 Viktoria Berlin - Potsdam 0:2 Bochum - Meppen 0:1 Frankfurt II - Wolfsburg II 1:2 Mainz - Warbeyen 6:1 Bayern II - Ingolstadt 1:5 1.Stuttgart 30 47-15 2.Sand 28 31-14 3.Meppen 26 33-9 4.Mainz 26 39-19 5.Andernach 22 21-16 6.Viktoria Berlin 17 22-15 (1 match less) 7.Potsdam 17 23-19 (1 match less) 8.Bochum 17 22-23 9.Ingolstadt 17 21-25 10.Wolfsburg II 16 25-37 11.Mönchengladbach 15 14-26 (1 match less) 12.Bayern II 10 13-35 (1 match less) 13.Frankfurt II 5 8-21 14.Warbeyen 3 12-57
Cerci has such a deceptively good heading ability, and regularly demonstrates strong all round qualities that suggests she should be a very strong international level forward. But be it good timing, or actually a really athletic ability to produce explosive standing jumps, for her size I've often thought Cerci's heading ability also stronger than Popp or Schüller... Missing various games this season due to injury, Cerci still found herself scoring 8 goals, placing her one away from the league leading 9 produced by Mühlhaus. So the question will continue to be asked, why does the wnt's analytics department refuse to accept Cerci one of the top 3 domestic forwards..? First an underwhelming Hoffmann, and now a more underwhelming Martinez, both allowed to start ahead of Cerci for wnt, when just a basic analysis of Cerci at club level says neither Hoffmann or Martinez anywhere near her level of play... Alongside Kössler, once again we could see Cerci be one half of the leagues most effective front 2 come the end of the season. But somehow we're in a scenario both Hoffenheim's forwards continue to be overlooked for Martinez doing almost nothing for a bottom of the WSL table West Ham...
If Frankfurt can't set things right, their in danger of having one of their worst league finishes in YEARS.... Goals scored pathetically low this season, goals conceded not bad... but made to feel worse thanks to the teams poor offense. At what point does their coach actually begin to be held accountable for the obvious stagnation which is now leading to signs of regression...? Anyomi and Reuteler also said to be leaving at the end of the season too... Frankfurt need to see the warning signs of being passed by multiple clubs. And what makes this even worse for Frankfurt, is knowing Kromp as their clubs former head of youth development, could be about to lead a weaker Werder Bremen to a better league finish in her first season as a 1.Bundesliga head coach...
Union Berlin - Frankfurt 2:2(0:1) Steuerwald(71), Hipp(89) - Freigang(13), Chiba(76) 1.Bayern 37 51-4 2.Wolfsburg 31 46-19 3.Bremen 26 22-17 4.Hoffenheim 22 24-18 5.Leverkusen 22 21-21 6.Frankfurt 20 30-27 7.Freiburg 20 25-22 8.Köln 18 18-18 9.Nürnberg 15 18-33 10.Leipzig 13 20-28 11.Union Berlin 12 17-27 12.Essen 9 9-28 13.Hamburger SV 7 12-35 14.Jena 6 11-27
Union Berlin continue the trend of lower quality opposition finding ways to score goals this season; meaning we see Frankfurt continue to invent new ways to throw away points lol... But what I still can't understand is Ftankfurt's coach absolutely refusing to change his offensively underwhelming system. Wasting clear chances to score, while conceding cheap goals thanks to individual errors. This team has clearly already peaked in prior seasons, and now looks set to enter a down time/rebuild period. So it appears I wasn't crazy notcing something was wrong after looking at Gräwe's performance data, and seeing a downward trajectory in every area she previously shined brightest... With this decline also on show now for most of this teams best players... even seeing newer signings showcase worse form this season too. An injection of new ideas/new energy probably really important for Frankfurt right now, headed towards a landscape we could be about to witness a new professional league competition as soon as next season.
Are Bayern really dumb enough to sell Schüller in the winter transfer window.... Allowing a 28yo German wnt 20+ goal a season striker to leave the club, while exteneding the contracts of a 33yo Harder, and a 32yo Damjanovic is... Damjanovic only hitting the 10 goals mark in a season ONCE.... What kind of long term planning is this...? Schüller, Bühl, Stanway, all leaving in the same season would be crazy, and would require some serious investment to replace all 3 with equal or better quality.
Chelsea really killed Alber's career..., as she's recently been seen playing for Chelsea's u21 team... How can this happen... how can this club behave so vindictive towards a 20yo they so actively and aggressively pursued over two years... If Bompastor decided she wanted nothing to do with Alber, the club should have done the right thing here, and loaned her back to Hoffenheim, or another WSL club. I mean... after suffering a ACL tear, Chelsea are now needlessly killing another year of football for Alber, knowing for months their new coach didn't even want her part of her Chelsea first team. Chelsea deciding to force Alber to train with their u21 team absolutely embarrassing. As Alber with rust still starting for Germany's u23's, and looking better than various players who'll currently start for their first teams. I've honestly never seen this type of treatment happen to one of Germany's top youth prospects.... Even a teenage Bremer went to Lyon a started games... wow! Imagine... from Germany's last u17 Euro Championship winning side, Alara the first and only standout to be part of the senior wnt...
Alara continues to be a club levem bench player, who's not allowed to participate in her best position when she does see the field for Bayern. Zicai, Bender, Steiner, Baum, Veit, Diehm, Zdebel, all playing well for their 1.Bundesliga teams, but not excelling with enough elite level consistency. Piljic potentially the one player from this generation who starts for her club, who could step up to the senior wnt as a starter... It crazy to think a host of players from the horrible 2022 u20 wnt are actually the best options for the senior wnt lol. Gräwe, Wamser, Zicai, Weidauer, Mahmoud, Elmazi, Diehm, Sterner, Mahmutovic, all part of that u20 WC group stage eliminated squad lol... With club and junior wnt success, it looked to be sure bet Alber would be a senior wnt star... and now she's being forced to train with Chelsea's u21's, while not being considered good enough to make the Chelsea 1st team bench...
Whatever Wrede decides to do next... I hope she makes the decision to go somewhere she will have a clear pathway to first team football... It's one thing to change clubs and see poor form render you a bench player. But moving to a new team, and never be considered good enough to be a bench player lol... Lohmann's long term health still unclear... Wrede posses a lot of qualities that could make her the natural option to replace what's been lost in the absence of the injured established names.
