Surely a new staduim deserves a new look team... Bayern currently has one of the oldest teams in Europe, and it's not resulted in improving their results in the UWCL. So lets hope the investment for the future continues beyond this staduim, and Bayern leadership finally upgrade the squad beyond wining league titles through Straus-ball.
They can still play in the Allianz for big games. Bayern just need to re-establish themselves as a UWCL power, and I'm sure the fans will show up for the women having their biggest games in the Allianz. Bayern don't have the big stadium fan support of Bremen or HSV right now, but the club refurbishing a staduim for the women is a real positive, potentially creating better engagement opportunities for fans of the men's team too.
nice to see Bremer back, is this her first game for Koln? Cool to see Koln doing so well. Honestly think Gephardt is their best all around player. Stolze sounds familiar, is she that was an top u16 player, never found her mark at Wolfsburg…and then drifted over to play in Holland for quite awhile?
Where is Lohmann? Not in the squad against West Ham. No wonder they only won1:0 against the pointless last-place team. It was the first time Bremer starting. She had been subbed in before. Yes, Stolze is the former Wolfsburg player.
Bremen - Union Berlin 3:0(1:0) Sternad(1,49), Mühlhaus(80) Bayern - Essen 4:1(3:1) Schüller(16,45+1), Harder(20), Dallmann(88) - Maier(2) Wolfsburg - Hoffenheim 2:1(0:0) Beerensteyn(72), Vallotto(90+1) - Ampoorter(81p)
Bremer the big what if of the German wnt program, makes a big impressing for Köln on her first full start for the club... For a period of time Bremer was meant to be the next big thing for German women's football; peaking as teen while being the best player from a generation of u20 WC winners it often felt she almost dragged to glory all on her own. Age 29 now, close to all of her generation no longer part of the wnt, it's interesting seeing her return to Bundesliga now to likely end her career with Köln, having previously not long ago been a part of a much stronger UWCL finalist level Wolfsburg. Why didn't a team like Frankfurt ever consider Bremer...
Mühlhaus finally scored in open play lol. And it's crazy to think after years of struggle, Bremen with Mühlhaus and Mahmoud, could have become a solid mid table club now, with credible senior German wnt talent on their team... The more I see of Mühlhaus, the more I also feel she's a legit CAM. But with the one issue of her lacking the energetic all action style of play witnessed with an elite CAM/AM like Magull. Mühlhaus is physically larger than Magull, but also to me appears slower; possessing a really impressive ability to provide key passes and produce elite free kicks too. But outside of these technical traits... I feel like Mühlhaus tactically a player who requires her teams to use two defensively responsible CM's behind her at all times, making her a luxury... Mühlhaus for Bremen and the u23's is now highly effective without being truly dominant. And without being dominant, I feel like she should still start to be considered ahead of Freigang, Dallmann, and probably even Alara, when it comes to future wnt selection. The wnt not blessed with many strong AM options performing to a high standard, beyond Mühlhaus, Wrede, and Alara, I'm not seeing Kowalski, Vobain, Corley, as realistic options for the next WC... Surely meaning Mühlhaus just has to continue this form over the course of the season... and I think it's almost impossible for her not to be considered a senior team player for the next stage of her career.
Late goal saves Wolfsburg from another Hoffenheim related horror show. Hoffenheim for some reason consistently the one team holding a real banna skin potential to every encounter Vs Wolfsburg. Huth still playing way above the level she's shown in recent seasons, and Beerensteyn coming on to bring life into an attack that was doing absolutely nothing positive without her. A big issue I continue to see with Wolfsburg has to be the form fo Zicai... Personally, I was never truly convinced Wolfsburg the best option for Zicai, when Bayern and Frankfurt are the teams in this league who prefer more controlled build up play. Zicai with 8 goals and 4 assists in the league last season with Freiburg, is struggling massively within a Wolfsburg team she's expected to break down defenses with a more direct style. And looking at her match data, it says Zicai SHOULD be scoring and assisting way more for Wolfsburg; which has me questioning is this simply an issue of low confidence? The talent is there... but with Bussy waiting for her opportunity, and Endemann set to return eventually, Zicai is wasting a period she could have cemented her position on Wolfsburg's starting 11 for the rest of the season...
LOL... Nüsken gets a random opportunity to start for Chelsea, but only lasts 55 mins before being replaced by Francois. Nüsken playing as a AM for Chelsea also manged to leave the game as her teams lowest overall rated mid-fielder too. All the time she's spent in England, Nüsken not showing any development beyond the palyer we all saw peak at Frankfurt... Alber's run of not being considered good enough to make Chelsea's bench continues. Her career fully stalled because the coach who pursued her for years is now selecting players as the head coach of the USwnt... Brand would see a 59' min sub introduction for Lyon, ending the game with no shots, no key passes, and one successful dribbling attempt. And I can't see how Brand remains with Lyon over a long period if her level of performance doesn't significantly improve. Lyon unlikely to persist with her as a club willing to push so much to remain one of the very elite of European football...
This surely has to be the last season we see this Bayern squad... Everything about that team looks past it's cycle. Domestic and foreign talent should all be assessed, and a completely new look team established for the coming future within a new staduim. Bühl is 100% leaving, and the lack of real wingers/wide forwards will have to be addressed. Zadrazil and Oberdorf injured, you can also see the issues with the nature of the mid-field too. FB competition looks perfectly fine, with the CB role probably needing some younger potentials being allowed to develop/learn from the more experienced names. No domestic competition to really push them it should be obvious Bayern will win the league with ease, but likely continue to underwhelm in the UWCL. So I hope Bayern are already planing for the future, as they're supposed to be the dominant force of German women's football, which means they need to replicate old school Frankfurt, and Wolfsburg, by setting the standard everyone else attempts to join and then surpass.
I'm watching Hamburg Vs Frankfurt, and with Frankfurt leading 0-1 at HT, Wrede is the best mid-fielder on the field... HSV are a really positive side considering their newly promoted, with so many players having never played any football in the top division before this season. And facing a Frankfurt side filled with so much international experience, 45 mins watching Wrede has me even more convinced she should be a starter for the senior team. Out of contract at the end of the season, I don't see how Wrede is still a Hamburg player for the 2026-27 season...
Frankfurt win 0-4. Freigang finally scores her first goal of the season, in a win the scoreline doesn't really reflect how competitive HSV really were. Schwalm also suffered another ACL..., which see's her career continue to be absolutely plagued with injuries. The factors I noticed most about this gane was HSV still being a uniquely offensively positive lower level team, 17yo Wrede being a senior wnt player, and Anyomi having at least another level to attain before she touches her true potential.
Jena - Leverkusen 2:4(1:2) Reske(41), Gentile(90+1) - Schmid(6og), Kehrer(19), Mädl(52), Fudalla(58) Hamburger SV - Frankfurt 0:4(0:1) Ilestedt(22), Senß(55p), Freigang(69), Gräwe(83) 2.Bundesliga Ingolstadt - Bochum 2:0 Andernach - Frankfurt II 0:0 Viktoria Berlin - Bayern II 7:0 Mainz - Mönchengladbach 3:0 Potsdam - Wolfsburg II 1:3 Sand - Meppen 0:3 Stuttgart - Warbeyen 7:2 1.Stuttgart 21 2.Sand 19 3.Mainz 14 4.Bochum 14 5.Ingolstadt 14 6.Wolfsburg II 13 7.Andernach 13 8.Mönchengladbach 12 9.Meppen 11 (1 match less) 10.Viktoria Berlin 11 (1 match less) 11.Bayern II 10 12.Potsdam 8 13.Frankfurt II 5 14.Warbeyen 3
Martinez has started 6 games for a winless West Ham this season, and contributed ZERO goals, or assissts.... Kössler seeming to be injured... we've still seen Weidauer's performance at a higher standard than Martinez; causing me to ask again... why was Martinez selected for the wnt..? Anyomi having a poor game should have scored twice and assisted at least one goal Vs HSV, reminding everyone where she still has to improve. But you can also see Anyomi, Schüller, Cerci, are still all very different types if forwards, and all blatantly superior to whatever other strikers like Hoffmann and Martinez are doing. This kind of strange player analysis seeing a mediocre Knaak selected for the wnt too. I hope it won't see Kössler held back due to the wnt coahces holding onto negative assertions of their own domestic league...
Lohmann has barely started for any team for years now. Nüsken struggles to make Chelsea's team too. Senß not even the first choice DM for her club... yet these are Germany's main mid-field options... And I don't understand how Germany magically rejuvenated it's defense, but managed to allow it's mid-field to degrade so badly lol. Bühl literally the only effective wide forward, while Brand at Lyon remains talented but still not truly effective. Yet at least you can see talented wide forwards in the league eventually getting wnt opportunities. Wrede continues to prove herself a 100% better box to box CM than anything in the senior wnt. With Gräwe, Minge, Piljic, Diehm, Felde, all performing at a higher standard than Nüsken too. Every game this season continues to showcase how uniquely separate club football is from the international level.... Club form apparently counting for nothing. I mean... how can you look at Mühlhaus play for Bremen and not think it makes Freigang look basic? For all her goals, Freigang has NEVER contributed to an effective attack like Mühlhaus; and this with Freigang consistently being surrounded by a stronger group of players.
Freiburg - Leipzig 2:4(0:2) Fölmli(77), Birkholz(88) - Asgeirsdottir(11), Müller(32), Schassching(73), Baum(85) 1.Bayern 22 25-3 2.Wolfsburg 19 28-12 3.Leverkusen 16 15-14 4.Frankfurt 15 21-12 5.Hoffenheim 13 15-9 6.Freiburg 13 18-16 7.Bremen 13 14-13 8.Union Berlin 10 13-13 9.Köln 10 11-14 10.Leipzig 10 12-17 11.Nürnberg 9 10-15 12.Hamburger SV 6 8-20 13.Jena 2 9-20 14.Essen 1 3-24 Next Matchday Tuesday - Thursday
Wow... Müller had an impressive individual display as a wingback... When Schimmer returns, Leipzig might want to try starting Müller ahead of Baum for their teams other wing back role..
Nürnberg - Bayern 0:6(0:3) Dallmann(9), Harder(15,41), Bühl(61), Padilla-Bidas(70), Fördos(90+1og) Union Berlin - Wolfsburg 1:4(1:0) Halverkamps(22) - Lattwein(57), Popp(71), Vallotto(80), Peddemors(90+1)
Rumour has it Poland WNT goalie Kinga Szemik of West Ham United will transfer to Wolfsburg (fee ~300k euro) Hmm.. no more info beyond one doubtful source.. looks like fake news.
Lattwein returns to the starting 11, and produces a fantastic sequence of individual quality to create her teams go ahead goal expertly scored by Popp... I still don't understand what Peddamors has to do for Lerch to understand how good she is for this teams overall balance and goal threat, but now Vallotto has been given her chance, and absolutely taken it. Is Vallotto better than Peddamors... I don't think so.... But when this team has a selfish one dimensional Beerensteyn leading the attack, more creative elements will be important for Wolfsburg to maintain 2nd place this season. Zicai still looking like an imposter too, while Huth somehow reverses time to look something like a younger version of herself. Wolfsburg are just about managing to reverse poor team performances with late comebacks. But the squad rotation in recent matches really does showcase how weak they really are right now compared to the not so distant past. ----‐------ Bayern's leadership need to stay awake right now, and make sure they don't sleep walk into accepting easy domestic success over chasing genuine UWCL level improvement. Sometimes it feels like Bayern are content on just finishing ahead of Wolfsburg; some strange squad development choices over recent years too. I have major concerns what happens when Bühl leaves... and this league needs at least one club setting an elite standard to raise the level of the chasing pack.
Koln 1-0 over Frankfurt at the half, but what’s more surprising is Koln’s got 11 shots to only one by Frankfurt. Their coach(Carlson) plays a very hybrid style with a lot of pressure defense, but got to worry her players might gass out with all the hard work rather their putting in
