Bundesliga 2025/26 - Is there a league after Lohmann?

So far Wolfsburg has been the better side, but the quality has been generally lower than expected from both team.

Levels probably the worst defender so far for Wolfsburg, the way both teams continue to turn over possession, its strange seeing the score still only 1-0 to the home side.

 

Huth runs into the penalty box, cuts it back perfectly for Peddamors, and she finishes at close range to make ot 2-0 Wolfsburg.

 

HT: 2-0 Wolfsburg... Küver has looked great so far... composed, assured in possesion; and what's even more shocking about this teams defensive display, is watching Wedemeyer look like one of the best player on the field lol.

Beerensteyn remains unbelievably selfish lol, but still provides the ability to stretch defenses with her pace. Meaning her value can accept some of the clear negatives around her efforts.

But damn... if Wolfsburg could stop losing the ball on simple passing sequences, they could potentially extend the lead in the 2nd half.

Both teams having very obvious flaws in their mid-fields, it's really prevented Wolfsburg's poor off ball defensive shape from being truly exposed.

But swap Zicai for Endmann, and make the mid-fielders take more care in their build up play, and Wolfsburg could find a surprising match day one victory.

 

Oh... and seeing Popp, there's no reason why she couldn't have been part of the Euro squad..

Even if she wasn't a starter, her value as a bench player could have been huge when you see how the idiots on the player analysis department came to the conclusion Hoffmann is the clear replacement for the qualities Popp provides..

 

Wow... Zicai really look out of her depth tonight. She is really struggle with every aspect of her game.

 

And now the bad defending arives lol. I don't know Wolfsburg haven't conceded, but 2-0 is a dangerous score right now...

Bussy and Linder sub in for Zicai and Wedemeyer. Where's Endemann though...

Zicai was terrible... but I'm shocked Bussy would enter before Endemann

 

Huth shown a yellow card now... Wolfsburg are fading.

Minge isn't a credible CM for elite level play. Peddamors also starting to look less effective. It's seen PSG hold complete control over the second half.

If Minge can't pass the ball forward... she's useless at this level within a double 6

 

Kielland replaces Beerensteyn. Popp as a lone forward with 2 CM's behind her is what I thought we'd see tonight

 

Mid-field 3 is working far better... and Wolfsburg look to have regained the ability to maintain possesion.

But needlessly turning over the ball has been an issue all game.

And good build up play leads to a Huth cross allowing Popp to dive and head the ball into an open net to make it 3-0

 

I guess Endemann is injured... Wolfsburg make their final subs, and we have no sign of the wide forward...

And I think VAR might be about to give Wolfsburg a penalty...

A strange game tactically, seeing both sides showcase weakness in midfield, i don't care who UEFA awards POTM, as for me Küver stood out tonight as the youngest player in a Wolfsburg defense that was under pressure for prelonged minutes of the overall 90 mins.

 

PSG would have more shots, and shots on target, in a game Wolfsburg end 4-0 winners....On another night PSG have at least two goals, meaning Wolfsburg will need to showcase continued improvement from this point moving onwards.

Once Lerch put Kielland into the mid-field, and removed Beerensteyn, PSG really didn't offer anything anymore, and yet it still saw PSG waste another good chance before Minge would end the game with the late penalty.

In future... I'm now even more convinced Wolfsburg's best 11 will need to feature 3 CM's, with the use of one forward (Popp) leading the attack. Without Lattwien or a real CAM, Kielland - Minge - Peddemors appearing to provide a significantly improved balance to the way this team functions.

Huth still effective wide right, questions need to be asked about who between Endemann, Zicai, Bussy, starts on the left; in my opinion this surely being Endemann, as she constantly demonstrates all the similar qualities of a potential elite goal threat like the short lived period of Sellner.

Again though, I need to repeat how good Küver performed on her UWCL debut. Levels can play better, Dijkstra and Wedemeyer with a few mistakes but overall solid too. It was a massive positive for Wolfsburg to see Küver showcase why she was rated so highly prior to dealing with the various injuries

But it could also easily change over the course of the season should Kleinherne, Lattwein, return to full health, or Zicai showcase improved development.

Beating PSG can be considered slightly deceiving... but knowing how incomplete this new look Wolfsburg have been early season, you still have to say this UWCL performance could really be the start of something should Wolfsburg compete just as well Vs Bayern this weekend...

 

Bayern fans online have suddenly decided that after witnessing the match day one UWCL horror show, it's Bühl who's become problematic for their team, and should be allowed to leave at the end of the season....

I haven't seen the game Vs Baca, but do Bayern fans not grasp how much Bühl accounts for this teams offensive output... Do they think her intentions to leave were changed for life, all because Oberdorf joined lol.

The love affair with 32yo Harder, seems to have removed the ability of a group of Bayern fans to understand how much more important a 24yo Bühl remains to their current team lol.

Just don't start Beerensteyn lol. His teams factually better with 3 CM's... I don't get it... and this with Minge moving back into the defense too lol.

I speculated Endemann must have been injured Vs PSG, and today she's not even on the bench. But I'm convinced Lerch is still just one player adjustment away from having a solid starting 11..

EDIT... Wait... Wolfsburg's using Linder, Levels, Wedemeyer in the starting 11 lol. I MISSED THIS, because it looked stupid

Bayern's gone back to Schüller on the bench. But I also see Oberdorf's name beside her (is she hurt again..)

After getting exposed Vs Barca, Wolfsburg's team selection could be about to provide Bayern's mid-field the perfect opportunity to bounce back...

I pressume Minge - Küver is a new CB pairing Harder will be facing too. I feel like whatever Lerch is doing will decide the winner of this game...

Kielland is in CM with Minge, Linder right side CB lol... OK, lets see how this goes for Lerch.

I'm so confused with this damn line up... now Wedemeyer is the CB next to Küver...

 

The lack of a extra body in mid-field for Wolfsbug is going to place so much unnecessary pressure on the defense again lol.

Lerch saw Barca dominate Bayern, and said no... we're going to let Bayern have an extra player in mid-field and hope for the best...
