Only got to watch the last 30 minutes & then overall highlights of the game, but it’s showing that Wolfsburg continues on a downward spiral.
Well(as an outsider) Popp fallin off more than any body out there. Considering that it took the US years to finally put Alex Morgan to rest—-and what a difference it made as the US confidently won the Olympics & got back its .#1 rankings—should consider the same with NOT starting Popp anymore, she simply looked miserable out there. I know she sort of a natural treasure to Germany, but now even Batfink opened his eyes(as he stopped posting) that Popp’s been a detriment to WOB finding success.
Killing WOB too is they stopped being a direct team, given them very little chance for quick transitioning or countering like they were able score when Pajor & Selner were the #9. Here again I got to give the blame to Popp—-or at least she looked like the main striker for the 30 min I watched, though most of the players kept switching positions over & over again instead of having any kind of identity.
WOB’s deliberate slow paced attack is quite shocking considering that both Brand & Jonsdottir were clocked in among the top 5 fastest players at the last Euros.
And then Stroot’s insistence on going straight up the middle is astounding as well as the PK area eventually gets overcrowded with defenders & attackers—-finding open space for his fwds doesn’t seem to be an option anymore for Stroot

 

this move must of been done by Straus to play an very slow down version using Lohmann for her fouling abilities—-nobody does fouls better than Lohmann—as Lindsey Horan found out!

 

Leave it like this: a draw would be perfect for Juventus.
