Bayern and Wolfsburg didn't get groups that will be easy to navigate....

Meeting a new unknown factor like Galatasaray, Wolfsburg will need to break the cycle of never beating Lyon, knowing they'll also be facing a Roma side who's transitional qualities will cause various problems to Stroot's frustratingly weak defensive shape.

Bayern in a group where Arsenal might actually be the best team..., getting paired with Juve and Valerenga who'll both deploy 3-4-3 formations that could create all kind of frustrations for the narrow Straus-ball system.

Leaving me to think even if Bayern's target SHOULD be the semi finals this season, I can already hear the excuses being constructed to explain away the next underwhelming UWCL run from Straus....

But overall... for all the obvious faults of both teams, I'd still like to believe both Germany's representatives can actually escape their group stage this season.

 

Looking at trends of women's football, I still believe transition football the most effective style in UWCL competition, which makes it very frustrating watching Straus-ball Bayern still so reliant on their FB's contributing so much towards their width.

However... looking at a strong Arsenal squad, I think they might be even more tactically suspect than Bayern lol, with their 4-4-2 system potentially leaving them wide open to be exposed by a very narrow Bayern system...

I just wonder how Bayern look against Juve though, where Italy's best team didn't struggle in any way facing a very athletic PSG, while using a very effective 3-4-3 that could shut down Bayern's FB's, aka their major source of creativity...

 

Looking at a very disjointed Wolfsburg, it clear their style of attack should still be highly effective within the UWCL this season, with the major issue with this team being the nature of their mid-field and defence.

Knowing nothing about how Dijkstra functions in this team, and still having no confidence in Küver's abilities as an elite level CB too, will likely need Stroot to find a way to keep Hegering - Hendrich healthy this season.

And while I'd be confident Wolfsburg can find a way to outscore Roma, and beat Galatasaray, I have ZERO idea what the plan is when they face Lyon, knowing Wolfsburg are going to have to try and stop Chawinga running at Wilms for 90 mins...

 

Hoffenheim’s misfortunes continue, not just the 2-1 loss to Lev, but Memeti got hurt, not sure how serious. This team given up way too many players and it’s really beginning to show. Only Cerci having a decent start, but it looks more like she’s been picked to the left as an winger. This time the faster Janssens started over Kossler as the #9, but to no avail as this new coach reminds me of previous Galai just non stop back passing at the beginning, and then only later become a bit more aggressive when it’s already too little, too late. I also don’t get why it’s Dick starting over Tufekovic at GK? to go along that the two CB’s are so error prone these days. This club’s turning into a mess but I just never understood why their so called billionaire owner can’t spend a lil more money & keep all those previous top notch players?
