Pleasing result for Austria Wien, I hope they can have a great season. Why were LASK Linz demoted to the regional leagues? Money problems I guess?

After 26 rounds, Austria has a 13-point lead on Salzburg. With 10 matches remaining, that difference is going to be hard to make up. But the two teams will be playing twice more, including in the next round two weeks from now. If Austria wins that one, I think the race is over. At the other end of the table, there's a real fight to avoid relegation with Admira, Wr. Neustadt, and Innsbruck all tied on 22 points. Mattersburg is only four points ahead and looking pretty weak. They're certainly not safe. 1 FK Austria Wien +47 64 2 FC Red Bull Salzburg +30 51 3 SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz +7 43 4 SK Rapid Wien +14 42 5 RZ Pellets WAC 0 36 6 SV Josko Ried +3 32 7 SV Mattersburg -27 26 8 FC Admira Wacker Mödling -16 22 9 SC Wiener Neustadt -26 22 10 FC Wacker Innsbruck -32 22
After 31 rounds, Austria's 13-point lead has shrunk to six points. Probably too close for comfort with five rounds to go. But barring a complete collapse, it should hold. Austria will surely want this decided before May 26, when they play at Salzburg on the last day of the season. Mattersburg has indeed been dragged into the relegation battle. They currently sit last, though only one point separates Wiener Neustadt, Innsbruck, Admira, and Mattersburg. This will go down to the wire. Grödig leads the Erste Liga by nine points and has a game in hand. Three years ago, Grödig was languishing in the Regionalliga West. Now they're all set for promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time ever. 1 Austria Wien +45 70 2 Salzburg +40 64 3 Rapid Wien +13 47 4 RZ Pellets WAC +2 45 5 Sturm Graz –2 45 6 Ried +8 44 7 Wiener Neustadt –25 29 8 FC Wacker Innsbruck –29 29 9 Adm/Modling –22 28 10 Mattersburg –30 28
With three rounds to go, Austria still holds the six-point lead over Salzburg, who have been very impressive in the Bundesliga of late (haven't lost in the last 16 rounds). But Salzburg needs Austria to stumble a bit before the final match, when they host the leaders. It looked like those two teams would be dueling for the Austrian Cup as well, but Salzburg suffered a shocking semifinal home defeat to Regionalliga Mitte (third level) team FC Pasching. Austria Wien defeated Ried in the other semifinal and will now attempt to add to their record number of Austrian Cups. Admira won big this weekend to climb out of the basement. Still, any of the bottom four teams could be relegated. Grödig has clinched the Erste Liga title and will be promoted to the Bundesliga next season. 1 FK Austria Wien 33 23 7 3 77 : 27 +50 76 2 FC Red Bull Salzburg 33 20 10 3 83 : 36 +47 70 3 SK Rapid Wien 33 14 9 10 52 : 37 +15 51 4 RZ Pellets WAC 33 12 10 11 51 : 51 0 46 5 SV Josko Ried 33 13 6 14 57 : 51 +6 45 6 SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz 33 12 9 12 45 : 50 -5 45 7 SV Mattersburg 33 8 8 17 34 : 62 -28 32 8 FC Admira Wacker Mödling 33 8 7 18 46 : 66 -20 31 9 SC Wiener Neustadt 33 7 9 17 26 : 57 -31 30 10 FC Wacker Innsbruck * 33 9 3 21 35 : 69 -34 30
