I wonder how true that is.

It would be the second time we’ve wanted to keep Mayoral and he’s left. I don’t get it though. Either it’s not true or Mayoral was sort of delusional up until the point when he decided to leave.

Maybe something is lost in translation and Mayoral has an expectation for a certain amount of minutes which Ancelotti will not give him because Ancelotti will play Benzema whenever Benzema has at least one functioning leg.

Departures this summer now include: Bale, Isco, Marcelo, Jovic, Mayoral, Kubo, Chust, Gila, and Miguel

9 players out and a few more are still expected.

Not sure how accurate that is. It goes without saying that Benzema would bench any striker at the moment.

That's like saying Lunin decided to leave after he had an "honest" conversation with Carlo and was told "sorry mate, Courtois is the undisputed starting GK". Well, duh.

The reality is that Carlo doesn't do much of rotating players plus he's notorious for making super late subs.

Yes possibly. But we have to be careful with Benz even more as the years roll by so I’d be worried if Carlo thinks that.

I think club intends to get a back up if they are letting Latasa leave as well.

Barca can't even register their new players. Auba as Lewa's benchwarmer on those wages doesn't make sense. He will probably join Chelsea. Depay might be kept if they sell more assets, I guess.

I would definitely be in the ear of Saliba if I was Perez. The kid looks amazing and only has 2 years left.

He apparently wanted Gab Jesus whom we couldn't go for due to Non EU issue. My feeling is that Carlo wants an option similar to Chicharito 2015 and hence didn't play Mayoral and Latasa a minute in pre-season. Maybe someone like Dezko for a year.

I don't think it matters what Ancelotti wants. Florentino Perez is obviously strategic moving for Endrick and won't bring anyone which would hinder that.

Gabriel Jesus wasn't even a realistic target to be considered, I'm sure Carlo knew his non-EU passport issue before he "asked" for him.

Meanwhile, Werner seems to be headed to RB Leipzig, Cavani to Boca Juniors, Sesko might decide next week between Man Utd/Chelsea. Iker Bravo is someone the club are reportedly "interested" in, no idea who he is.

At this point, I'd be VERY surprised if the club actually moves in for a striker/RW, even if Latasa leaves. I have a feeling we'll settle for Mariano + Hazard/ASSensio/Modric as "false 9s". Its always the argument that we're saving a spot for Mbappe/Haaland/Flo's next Brazilian wonder kid.

Endrick turned 16 like 2 weeks ago! Could we honestly abstain from signing strikers for 2-3 years?

Edit: Also, I haven't seen/read anything concrete re him, what if he comes out in a year or so and says his "dream" is to play for PSG or Barcelona (after their 76th lever)?

The Endrick thing seems kind of insane on its face but it is hard to doubt Calafat at this point.

Endrick and Tcho were rooting for us during our CL run. One snubbed PSG et al to join RM. Apparently, Chelsea have also got into Endrick race and has been in contact with his family after Boehly took over. But I expect RM to get this done if Flo is really keen like Vini, Rodrygo.

Sesko scored 5 goals in Austrian league last season. He will be nothing less than a project too and will have to develop playing scrap minutes behind Benzema while his pricetag is now 60 ME. That makes Jovic deal looks like zero risk. Irony is Flo's Brazilian wonder kid Vini covered for Galacticos busts like Hazard. If Hazard was our Coutinho esque bust, Vini prevented us from wasting 120 ME on another Griezmann.

Everyone relevant in Brazil rates Endrick to be the best talent of his generation. Vini was rated as the best from his generation. Flo had Neymar come to Madrid in 2005. Robinho had an absolute joke of a lifestyle from the get go and still helped RM win 2 league titles, had a hot start with City when he cared. Teams fight for Brazilian generational talents so early because they actually have insane talent rather than just hype. Not to be confused with one tick ponies like Denilson.

If it's between 60 ME for Endrick or Sesko, Endrick any day. What we need is a back up for Benz. That can be a short term option like Dzeko too.

Don't get me wrong. I love the first batch of Papa Flo's Brazilian wonder kids (Vini and Rodrygo).

I haven't seen Sesko nor did I look up his stats, was merely putting an update on the status of the "targets" reported in the media. Me? I wouldn't buy him for 45mil let alone 60.

All that said, this potential strategy of "we won't sign a forward for the next x year(s) because Jovic and we're also planning a major heist for a generational talent in 202y" has proven costly. I don't want to go through that shit again.

We need a backup for Benzema now, I think we all agree on that. I also think we need a goddamn RW because Asensio is ass and Rodrygo is not a RW but unless we buy a CF that can operate both positions, that ain't happening.

Now, there are 3 weeks left until the transfer window shuts, a lot can happen until then, if we rely on false 9s/Mariano in this extraordinary seasons to cover for Benzema, we might be in a sour dose of disappointment.

Forget replacing Benz, no one will replace him if he’s down. But you need someone to spell him now and then and cover for short term injury. Those games are the difference between winning the league and coming second or third.

Rodrygo will have to develop into a good RW and/or false 9 at RM though. That's where he will get minutes. Vini has LW locked for a decade.

Carlo played him there once in the Barca game and I get the feeling he’s not doing that again which is a shame.

If he was close to joining Atlético, price couldn't be that high. Maybe 10-15 ME. Maybe he will replace Latasa in Castilla and play for first team when called upon.

Yeah I don't see how we don't have a legitimate plan when we moved Mayoral so effortlessly.

If we don’t we are being reckless.

Would like to see us get creative. Approaching this packed season without another quality attaching signing seems stupid to me. I get that we were all setup for Mbappe, but clearly the need for improvement is still there after he dissed us so just leaving a spot open doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t waste $ but players who might seem unlikely to move could surely be swayed by the allure of RM. make something happen and ensure we have depth up top. We cannot count on Hazard, Lucas, Mariano as our backups. Fede can play RW but we should be striving for more there.

Why would we sign a backup striker? Just chuck in Hazard or Rodrygo and be done with it.

We only sign top class players. Anything else is rubbish.

It's one thing to be a second option, and another to only play whenever the first option can't play.

Mayoral looks at the longer perspective and he's absolutely correct to do so. Two to three years of not playing at all will absolutely shatter any potential he has to make money afterwards.

Isco and Marcelo allegedly still have no offers/nothing close to an agreement. This is the future you're looking at when you're not playing at all.
